The UAE’s diverse population creates a correspondingly diverse demand for blood types, including many that remain in consistently short supply.

Corporate blood donation drives are one of the most direct ways organisations can contribute to community health. One unit of blood can save up to three lives.

Strong organisations do not only invest in workforce health internally. They also contribute to the resilience of the wider communities around them.

The UAE Midday Break Rule is an important protection during the summer months. But heat illness does not follow the clock.

Workers who are dehydrated, not acclimatised, or managing underlying health conditions can remain vulnerable throughout the working day in extreme temperatures.

Effective heat health management also depends on supervisor awareness, with clear hydration protocols and escalation procedures throughout the working day.

On World No-Tobacco Day, remember that smoking risk can be higher for workers already exposed to dust, chemicals or poor air quality.

Across the UAE, many roles operate in these environments, from construction and industrial sites to workshops and logistics facilities. Adding smoking, including sh**ha and va**ng, increases the strain on respiratory health.

Smoking cessation support and regular lung function testing give people a clearer picture of their health and a chance to act earlier.

Awareness matters. Action matters more.
