Heavy bleeding at a young age is often ignored, delayed, or treated with temporary tablets.

But sometimes, the real reason needs to be seen from inside the uterus.

This case is a reminder that age should not decide how seriously a symptom is taken.

If your bleeding is heavy, prolonged, or affecting your routine, consult early and get evaluated.

“I’ll wait for menopause” is something many women with large fibroids tell themselves.

But if you are already dealing with heavy bleeding, pelvic pressure, back pain, or daily discomfort, waiting may only prolong your suffering.

Menopause may reduce bleeding, but it may not give you instant relief from large fibroid symptoms.

Please don’t normalise suffering. Get evaluated and understand your options.

Travel should feel exciting.
But for many women, it comes with a quiet worry.

When symptoms start deciding your plans, it is no longer just a period inconvenience.
It is a quality of life concern.

Heavy bleeding, repeated pain, spotting or unpredictable cycles should not be managed only with fear and temporary solutions.

Your symptoms deserve to be understood because care is not only about treating disease.
It is also about helping women live more freely.

There are so many things women are told during pregnancy, but CMV is still not spoken about enough.

CMV is a common virus that can spread through saliva and urine. For most healthy adults, it may not cause much concern, but during pregnancy, awareness matters because it can sometimes affect the baby.

Young children can carry and pass the virus without looking sick. So if you are pregnant and often caring for a toddler or young child, small everyday precautions can make a difference.

Wash your hands often.
Avoid sharing spoons, cups, or food.
Avoid mouth kisses.
Clean toys that frequently go into the mouth.

This CMV Awareness Month, let’s help more pregnant women know about CMV before they have to worry about it.

One thing I often explain to expecting mothers is that pregnancy monitoring is not only about the baby’s heartbeat or growth.

Sometimes, we also need to look at the cervix.

The cervix has a quiet but important role. It helps support the pregnancy and keeps it inside the uterus until the right time.
In some pregnancies, especially if there has been a previous miscarriage, early delivery, cervical procedure or repeated pregnancy loss, I may advise checking the cervical length on scan.

The tricky part is that a short cervix may not give any symptoms in the beginning.

A mother may feel completely fine, but the scan may show that closer monitoring is needed.

When we pick this up early, we have time to decide what is best. It may be observation, medication, a cervical stitch or simply more frequent follow-up.

This is not to create fear.

It is to make sure we are watching the right things at the right time, so that we can support the pregnancy better and avoid decisions being made only when it becomes urgent.

Pregnancy care is not just about reacting to problems.

It is about careful follow-up, timely judgement and understanding what each mother needs.

As a gynaecologist, one thing I truly wish more women knew is this:
Viral advice cannot replace a proper diagnosis.
Your symptoms deserve clarity, not confusion.

Many women are told they have fibroids, but very few are properly explained what type of fibroid they actually have.

And clinically, that distinction matters.
Two women can have fibroids of the same size, yet completely different symptoms, bleeding patterns, or fertility concerns depending on where the fibroid is located.

This is why fibroid treatment is never based on size alone.
It has to be individualized to symptoms, scan findings, and reproductive goals.

Save this if you have ever been diagnosed with fibroids.

One of the most difficult recommendations for many IVF patients to understand is why a damaged fallopian tube may need treatment or removal before IVF.

If you have recently been diagnosed with hydrosalpinx, this reel may help you understand better the reasoning behind that.
