This afternoon we attended Advances in Camel Sciences: a multidisciplinary international seminar held at Thumbay Medicity, Ajman 🐪 🧬

Our wonderful Kirsten presented a case report on postoperative rehabilitation following humeral fracture fixation in the camel, highlighting the role of veterinary physiotherapy in the recovery process following orthopaedic surgery.

What a privilege to attend the White Coat Ceremony at Gulf Medical University today 🥼🩺 where we watched the next generation of veterinary doctors step into the most important years of their studies.

Their white coats carry a commitment to animal welfare, to lifelong learning, and to the clients and patients who will one day place their trust in them.

This Sunday 27th September, we are very excited to be welcoming Dr Ahmed Abdellatif & Dr Steve Wimberley for a educational Discussion Hub covering ‘Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture: from Diagnosis to a New Prolotherapy Approach’ in collaboration with GSG ACADEMY.

In the UAE, there are plenty of reasons orthopaedic surgery for patients doesn’t go ahead. Risk, cost, or simply the age of the animal may prevent owners from opting for surgical intervention.

Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection technique that stimulates the body’s own healing response to strengthen weakened ligaments, tendons and joints. Paired with targeted rehabilitation, it offers a minimally invasive option for chronic instability, osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries in animal patients.

A milestone moment for Animal Physiotherapy in the UAE 🇦🇪 🐾

Today we signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Advanced and Innovative Animal Physiotherapy in partnership with Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine at Gulf Medical University, Ajman.

This partnership brings animal physiotherapy into the academic setting: shared teaching and CPD, clinical exposure for DVM students, and collaboration on research and case work across both large and small animal rehabilitation.

Veterinary physiotherapy is still a young discipline in this region. Building it into veterinary education from the start is how it becomes standard care rather than an afterthought. The next generation of vets will graduate already knowing when to refer, what rehabilitation can achieve, and how it works alongside surgical and medical treatment in providing the best possible outcomes for animals under their care.

Thank you to President Thumbay Moideen and the team at GMU for their warmth and vision throughout, and to Professor. Mohammad Khalifeh and Dr Shafy for hosting us.

We look forward to the work ahead, supporting further innovation in standards of veterinary care in the region.
