Last night, we heard from public health experts Prof. Peng Bi, Dr. Kate Wylie, Craig Wilkins, and Assoc. Prof. Adriana Milazzo about practical approaches to build resilience in the face of climate change - Thank you so much for generously sharing your insights and time on this critical topic affecting the wellbeing of our communities.
It was so lovely to see the forty-eight participants who came along throughout the night. We hope you enjoyed the guest speaker talks, flexed your problem-solving skills during the workshop, and made some meaningful connections. We're grateful that Adelaide Climate Action Week - ACAW gave us the opportunity to bring everyone together under one roof.
A huge thank you to the volunteer team who put in so much effort behind the scenes - Jack Rowland and Yogeeta Viswanath Harish for orchestrating the event, Kavya Desai and Vidula Kathiresan for the photography, our on-the-ground crew Alex Obery, Eva Kemp and Tamanna Sood. Nimali Mani, Maliha Munawara Mamun and Judith Lee for the mixture of on-the-ground help and food preparation.
Thank you to the organisations that promote environmental sustainability and have made this delicious feast possible, namely Fabian from The Simple Market and Vanessa and Jason from OrganicBox (both small businesses supporting local SA growers). Also to Amanda, David and Idra from Fruit Share Adelaide, a volunteer-run charity that rescues and redistributes surplus fruit. The fresh fruit and veggies were delicious yesterday, and the rest of the fruit has been delivered to AUSA Pantry to help combat food insecurity.
Thank you all for being a part of our little club's first-ever event, and we hope to see you again next time!
