Rejection.
I think we can all get caught up in how positive things look on social media, I'm not naïve to that.
Sometimes social media is an accurate representation of what's happening in someone's life or business, but I also think it's important to acknowledge that two things can exist at once.
There can be success, growth and momentum, while at the very same time there are setbacks, knock-backs and rejection.
With every big win often comes a handful of losses.
Our social media might show the wins, the growth and how busy we are (and trust me, I feel that busyness in my bones), but what it doesn't always show is the hard slog that comes before it. Every new client, project or course has usually arrived after a series of rejections, "not right now"s, unanswered emails, missed opportunities, and moments of self-doubt.
Early in my career, a mentor shared something with me that has stuck ever since:
"Every no is one step closer to the next yes."
I think about that often.
So if you're in a season of rejection, keep going. The no you're hearing today might just be creating the space for the right yes tomorrow.
