Woohoo - have you heard our big news?
We’re so proud to share that HOSPO Health has been named a finalist in the 2026 National Safety Awards of Excellence – Best Safety Leadership Program, alongside some of Australia’s biggest organisations.
For a program created specifically for Tasmania’s hospitality industry, that’s a pretty big deal. ✨
HOSPO Health was built around a simple idea: what if we could help prevent people becoming unwell, rather than waiting until they need help?
Our government-funded program supports hospitality workers, leaders and businesses with preventative health, wellbeing and psychosocial safety. It goes beyond telling people to “look after themselves”. We look at the work itself - leadership, workload, culture, connection and support - and how we can prevent harm before people become unwell.
It’s tailored. It’s evidence-based. It’s believed to be the first program of its kind in Australia. And most importantly, it’s working.
We believe HOSPO Health has the potential to become a blueprint for something much bigger: showing how industries and governments can work together to improve the health and wellbeing of entire workforces.
A huge congratulations and thank you to Hospitality Tasmania CEO Steve Old, whose vision and drive made HOSPO Health possible, and who backed the idea of doing things differently.
And to the workers, managers, owners and venues in the hospo industry who have embraced HOSPO Health and helped shape it along the way, thank you - this recognition belongs to you too.
Next stop: Sydney, 5 November!
