It was International Nurses Day today. We dearly appreciate our very hard-working, compassionate, and wonderful nursing staff. They are the heart and soul of our hospital. CWA Bellingen Branch and Bellingen Hospital Action Group (BHAG) SOS Bellingen Hospital, worked together with Mary's and raised funds for the day so we could make the day extra special for our treasured nursing staff. With the funds raised a BBQ lunch was held, we made some pretty purple Cupcakes and gave vouchers for free beverages and cake for every nurse. Mary's even stayed open until 4pm. Thankyou to our Nurses. You are amazing! Special thanks goes to Viola Morris for organising this kind gesture.

We are thrilled to announce that a new Nurse Unit Manager has now been hired for the Hartley House ward at Bellinger River District Hospital and the ward is on track to reopen in May.

We can also announce that our joint public meeting with Homes for Health and the Bellingen Shire Council was a great success and there have been nearly 70 offers of accommodation for health workers ranging from short term to long term and single rooms to whole houses.

What an incredible and successful effort by so many in our community to show our local health district that we won’t give up on our hospital.
