🐐🔥 A perfect Friday at Lockwood! 🌿

Last Friday, our Out & About crew headed out to Lockwood for a beautiful afternoon spent connecting with nature, animals and each other.

The highlight? Getting up close with some very cute baby goats! 🐐 Our participants had the chance to feed and interact with the goats, learn about caring for animals and get a little taste of the responsibility that comes with having pets.

It was also a great opportunity to talk about the realistic side of caring for animals — because as cute as they are, pets need time, patience, commitment and lots of care! ❤️

After plenty of goat cuddles and laughs, we finished the afternoon around the campfire, making it the perfect way to wind down and finish the week.

We love getting our participants out into the community and creating experiences that are not only fun, but also provide opportunities to learn, build confidence, connect with others and try something a little different.

And honestly… we don’t think anyone was complaining about the baby goats! 🐐🥰

Another pretty great Friday with Bendigo Discoveries! 💙

We’ve been a little quiet on socials lately, but things have been anything but quiet behind the scenes.

We’ve been busy gearing up for our upcoming audit, welcoming some wonderful new staff to the team, and working on a few exciting things that we can’t wait to introduce to our participants, families and wider community.

We’re also incredibly excited to be rolling out Flourish. A program focused on real-world experiences, building skills, confidence and independence, and creating meaningful opportunities for our crew to learn, grow and try something new.

With some wonderful new staff joining us, we’re also excited to have spots opening across;

Ready to build confidence, learn practical life skills, and have fun along the way?

Flourish: Cooking & Catering is designed to help participants develop the skills they need for greater independence, while exploring hospitality, food preparation, and potential employment pathways in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Throughout the program, participants will:
👨‍🍳 Learn to cook a variety of meals, snacks and desserts.
🥗 Build meal planning and meal preparation skills.
🔪 Develop confidence and safety in the kitchen.
🛒 Learn budgeting and grocery shopping skills.

No matter where someone is on their journey, this program is designed to meet participants where they are, helping them build on their existing skills at their own pace while celebrating every achievement along the way.

To keep things exciting, we’ll also work towards special milestones and practical qualifications throughout the year, with opportunities such as barista training, guest workshops, industry experiences, and other hands-on learning opportunities as the program continues to grow.

At Discoveries, we believe learning should be practical, meaningful and fun—and that’s exactly what Flourish is all about.

One thing we've discovered on our adventures... our participants aren't the only ones we love spending time with!

Animals have a special way of bringing joy, comfort, confidence and connection. Whether we're out in the community, visiting local farms, enjoying walks with our four-legged companions, or simply stopping for a pat, these moments always bring a smile to our faces.
At Discoveries, we believe that community access is about creating meaningful experiences, and our furry friends have certainly become a memorable part of that journey. Here's to all the wagging tails, happy paws, wet noses and unforgettable cuddles. We can't wait to meet many more! 🐾💙

Do you have a pet that would love a visit from the Discoveries crew? We'd love to meet them! 🥰
