Have you ever been scrolling through pictures and stopped when you saw a picture of yourself that didn’t seem like you at all?

That feeling of your own image turning into a stranger.
It's such a common experience, and yet it catches us by surprise, because the mind has a way of protecting us from seeing something painful.

I know it isn't about willpower (it never was).

If a photo has had a similar effect on you, comment “Same”.

I’ll respond with a free offer. It's a chance to see a different future for yourself, and get a genuine, well-founded sense that you can turn this around.

“To err is human, to forgive, divine”
From an Essay on Criticism by Alexander Pope, written in 1711.

We all make mistakes, right?

But when we judge ourselves as failures, we are adopting a failure identity and it can feel like it’s set in stone.

Identity isn’t a fixed truth that remains constant over time. It’s a story you’ve told yourself about your past experiences.

Stories can be revised, edited and added to.

Comment MISTAKE if you want to learn how to deal with past mistakes so that you don’t finish up living a failure story on repeat.

** Your past mistakes don’t limit your capacity for future success.

THE 5 MINUTE AUDIT
Pick one value that matters to you.
Health. Freedom. Confidence. Whatever comes to mind first is usually the right one.

Now ask yourself honestly: on a scale of one to ten, “How certain am I that I already am this?”

If you can’t say 100% you are, if you feel like “sometimes yes, sometimes no” or if you would give it an 8 out of 10 - you've just found the gap. Not a failure. Just useful information.

Now go looking for evidence that shows you being the value. Look for The small wins. Not the big, obvious ones. A moment last week, maybe smaller than you'd think counts, where you were already living that value and didn't clock it at the time. They're there. Most of us discount them automatically.

Write down three if you can find them. One is enough to start.

That's the five minute audit.

It tells you more about where you actually stand with your values than any amount of thinking about it would.

And once the gap has been identified you can start to close it.

Comment AUDIT if you want to know more about this.

When you find yourself procrastinating, when you know what to do but can't make yourself do it, when you have a repeated pattern of starting but not finishing, when you talk about wanting something but never get started on it.

It could be a values gap, a lack of alignment between what's important to you and what you are giving priority to.

Sometimes we can be blind to our values gaps. I know I was. A great coach who shone the light on it for me did me the greatest kindness, and my life has been significantly better since.

I love helping people with this. Hence I'm offering a free 30 minute values elicitation session to get you started with looking at your values. Comment VALUE below and I'll send you a link to book the free session.

The first time I retired, nothing happened. I had been on sick leave, not working, and I'd agreed with my financial planner to keep earning for another two years to build up my superannuation. I didn't feel free.

Two months later I got a call to do some contract work for a former employer I regarded highly. I said yes.

It was only once that contract finished that the real feeling arrived.

First morning, no plan. Cup of coffee in hand. I sat looking out at my courtyard, breathed in, and thought: wow, this is it. I'm finally free.

Freedom didn't arrive the day I made the decision to finally retire. It arrived on an ordinary morning with nothing on the calendar.

Comment "FREE" if you know that feeling, or if you're still waiting for it.

I am a really bad swimmer and I hated swimming.
Training laps, years ago, I could hear exactly what was running through my head the whole time. "This is really hard. I'm no good at this. Everyone else is better than me".

I was studying to become a life coach at the time, learning how destructive that kind of self-talk actually is. Hearing it happening in real time, in my own head, in the pool, was a jolt.

So I changed it. Mid-lap: "I can do better. I'm getting stronger every day. I can do more than I think I can."

The swimming didn't get easy. I never did get good at it. But it got possible.

Months later, deep into a triathlon and running out of steam, the same old voice showed up again. Same fix. An encouraging coach's voice instead of a critical one. "I can do this".

That was the moment I understood something. It was never just about the body. It's the story you're telling yourself while you're in it.

Comment "STORY" if you've caught your own inner voice doing this to you.

Clarify your values before pursuing goals.
If your goals are NOT aligned with your values you will
• not enjoy the journey towards the goal
• tend to give up when challenges arise
• not feel fulfilled when the goal is achieved.
If your goal IS aligned with your values you will
• be motivated, enthusiastic, keen to take action,
• resourceful in the face of setbacks and
• persistent until you reach the goal.
Comment "VALUES" for a free 30 minute values exploration.

What makes change permanent?

Being congruent.

When your daily actions actually match what you value, at the level of identity, not just intention.

Diets fail so often because they ask you to override your values with discipline. Sooner or later discipline runs out of fuel, and you land right back where you started.

But when your weight freedom is genuinely connected to what you value, when it's an expression of who you're becoming rather than a punishment for who you've been, it stops being something you have to force. It becomes something you simply do, because it fits.

That's what makes it stick. Not more willpower. Congruence.

This is the work we do inside Weight Freedom Mastery. Values, identity, the gap between them, and how to close it for good, with real support along the way.

You don't need to overhaul your whole life to start. You just need to notice where you're out of alignment, and take the next honest step from there.

Comment “VALUES” If you’ve never explored your values and want to make a start.
