Alongside ManUp - for prostate cancer, we are proud to play a part in helping Baralaba Coal’s people take proactive steps towards better health.
At Baralaba Coal Mine, our people are our greatest asset, and initiatives like the recent visits from ManUp! Australia and Boncentric Health are a powerful reminder of why investing in the health and wellbeing of our workforce matters.
Across two days, more than 400 employees attended ManUp! sessions on prostate cancer awareness and men's health, sparking conversations that can save lives. The willingness of our workforce to engage in conversations that can often be uncomfortable or overlooked was very encouraging.
The sessions provided practical information about prostate cancer, early detection, and regular testing, but more importantly, they encouraged us to stop, think about our health and have conversations that could ultimately save lives.
Following straight after, Boncentric Health provided onsite health screenings, PSA testing and skin checks, so workers could turn awareness into action on the spot.
The results speak for themselves; 159 PSA tests and 182 skin checks were completed. Some individuals with elevated PSA results were identified and they are now receiving care, while 50 employees were referred for further investigation following skin checks. Behind every number is a person and a family who now have a better shot at early intervention.
It was also great to see so many familiar faces returning from past campaigns — proof that ongoing awareness and monitoring really do make a difference.
“As SHET Superintendent, I'm incredibly proud of how our workforce embraced this initiative,” said Jyotika Luttrell. “A huge thank you to ManUp! Australia and Boncentric Health for bringing these vital services to site, and to Baralaba Coal for investing in our people's wellbeing.
“Programs like this are not just about identifying health risks; they are about giving people the knowledge, support, and opportunity to take control of their health so they can be there for the people who matter most to them.
“Together, we’ve delivered far more than education and health checks; we’ve started conversations, encouraged action, and helped ensure our people have the best possible opportunity to live healthier, longer lives.”
