Bonus Tip: People who are qualified to teach you to exercise make it obvious for you to know, we tell you in our username or bio who we are and what we do. 💁🏻‍♀️

Whether it is medical or fitness, we worked hard for our credentials so we display this loud and proud. ✌🏽🤓

When it is NOT obvious, check their bio link, do they have a website? What’s in their About Me section? Is there a LinkedIn? What’s listed there?

Nothing? Do a google search, if you can’t find anything, it’s a HUGE Red Flag!! 🚩

Exercise is more than just move this and do that, appropriate training is required for a very important reason 👉🏽 your safety.

Don’t confuse ability with credentials in related/ adjacent discipline.

It’s wild out there singers, Stay Savvy! 💜

Using your 6 pack muscle (Re**us Abdominis) for Breath Support is like using a coarse nail file on natural nail. 💅🏽 Sure, it can work but it is a blunt, imprecise tool that’s likely to do too much, then your laryngeal muscles have to do more to rein it back in. 😕 Not only is this too much work, it is also a sneaky reason singers get stuck in a recurring cycle of excessive vocal tension. ♻️

On the other hand, your Transversus Abdominis, the main muscle of your core, is much more subtle, responsive, and capable of supporting your voice precisely and efficiently. 🎯

This is why, as a physiotherapist, I encourage singers to tap into your built-in support muscles for singing. It’s super easy and starts with learning how to correctly engage your core muscles and coordinating it with your breathing, which I teach in my FREE program “Breath Support Foundation”. 👍🏽

Stop working too hard when you sing and get precise with your support, comment “RETRAIN” for my free program. 😊

I’m not loving the content I’m seeing about Pelvic Floor and Singing ngl. 😵‍💫 Your Pelvic Floor is relevant for singing yes but please save your creativity for your art and not what you think your Pelvic Floor does, thank you. 🫠

What’s the most creative claim for the Pelvic Floor you’ve heard? Share with us below, I’ll dissect them for ya. 🔬

I knew leaking is a problem for singers the first time I saw a celebrity vocal coach teach singers to support by popping out her solar plexus, she shouldn’t be able to do that, she essentially gave herself a hernia and call it support. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I became increasingly worried when I saw another one say push down on your pelvic floor for support, then another one say push like you’re doing a poo, both are problematic because it works against and strains your pelvic floor. 👎🏽

This was why I started talking bluntly about how some “technique” are ruining singer’s pelvic floor. Naturally, there was push back but it also resonated with lots of singers. 💔

I kept speaking up about this and then I saw this Tena ad, when the incontinence liner company actively targets Singers, I know the problem runs far deeper than even my worst nightmare. 😱

So the only thing I can do is to double down on my efforts. My goal is to help singers Prevent leaking, because leaking is NOT inevitable and there’re so much you can do and the best time to start optimising your pelvic health is now. ⏳

If you already experience leaking, I see you, you need rehab so please book in with a pelvic floor physiotherapist today. 👩🏻‍⚕️

If you don’t currently experience leaking, it is about Risk Reduction, and the first step is to find out which ones of the many known risk factors for leaking apply to you. This is what my Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Screening is for. 🔍

It’s a simple survey you do at home followed by a videoconference appointment with me where I walk you through what applies to you, what you should look out for through difference seasons of life, and what you can start doing today to proactively reduce your risk of leaking in the future. 👍🏽

Screening is suitable for woman and AFAB singers aged 18+. Comment “SCREENING” and I’ll get in touch. 💜

13 years before HYROX competitors are pooping themselves, CrossFit competitors were peeing their pants. 💩💦

To stop history from repeating itself yet again, what we really should be talking about is Incontinence – how common it is, what treatment options are available, and how to better support those living with the condition, who often feel shame, helplessness, and isolation. 😔

To learn more about the different types of Incontinence, check out Continence Health Australia Continence Health Australia, their website has excellent evidence-based information. 👍🏽

See a Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist and discuss with your GP for treatment options. 👩🏻‍⚕️

If you have never had someone you can talk to about your struggles with Incontinence, I see you, message me, I’ll gladly listen to you. 💜

Singers, I know you want to learn but please beware who you learn from, these AI anatomy videos are NOT teaching you anything. I know they look cool but your inside does NOT look nor work like these AI slops depict. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How do I know? Well, to become a physiotherapist I had to learn a LOT about the body at university, including anatomy and physiology, and we learnt it the old-school way, you know, years of lectures, text books, cadavers, exams, and all that. 📚

So whilst I don’t know, and can never know, everything about the body, I know enough to tell you these slops are nothing more than cheap jokes my colleagues and I laugh at in DMs. 😂

If you really want to learn, learn from credible sources, invest in a university affiliated program or hire a health professional to be your mentor, some of us offer consultancy service and we are only too happy to share our brain full of knowledge with you. 🤗

Wanna pick my brain? 🧠 Comment “Consultancy” to learn more about my consultancy service. 👍🏽

These are some thoughts I’ve had for a long time, I know they are bound to ruffle feathers and make peeps uncomfortable, but “the standard you walk past is the standard you accept” and I do NOT accept this for singers, so here we are, can of worms, opened. 🪱

I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences so drop them in the comment or slide them into my DM. Let’s chat. 💜

And if you want to make sure you’re using your Pelvic Floor correctly for Singing, comment “RETRAIN” and I’ll send you my FREE mini program. 👍🏽

Hypermobile Physio spotted using regular gym equipment in unconventional way to get a good Thoracic Extension stretch. 🕵🏻‍♀️😜

Whilst I love me a good stretch, what’s vital for singers with Hypermobility is to build Strength that supports our generous Range of Movement, so apart from building Functional Strength at the Gym, I also work on Owning my Mobility with Pilates-inspired exercises, and I am sharing all my fav exercises with you in my upcoming Thoracic Mobility for Singers Program. 🫶🏽

It’s almost ready, comment “CLUB” for launch access. 🚀

I can’t stop thinking about this since I saw on ABC News how one poor woman found out by chance that her urologist’s AI note taker messed up her records very badly. 😱 I just don’t understand how that incorrect information was not picked up? Because IF the notes were reviewed BEFORE it was finalised and saved like it should be, it should have been picked up. 🤔

Have you been asked for permission to use AI note taker by your healthcare providers? Let us know your experience below.
