This morning I had the privilege of catching up with Jeff Horn over a coffee and a meaningful conversation around the work I’m doing with Wolf Wellbeing.

What I valued most was that I wasn’t meeting “Jeff Horn the boxer”, I was connecting with Jeff Horn the human being, and what an incredibly down to earth and genuine person he is.

My dad always used to say to me, “Nobody is better than you, and you are no better than anybody else. We all have our own story, and whether you come across a homeless person on the street or the Queen of England, you treat everyone with respect.”

Today, I felt a connection built on those same values... along with a shared vision of empowering people through early intervention, education, and support to reduce the impacts of chronic stress in everyday life.

There are not too many people who would take time out of their day to catch up for a coffee with an everyday person like myself.

Grateful for the conversation.
Grateful for the connection.
Grateful for you

Thank you 🙏🥊

You don’t just experience the job.
The job shapes how your brain works.

Every shift, you’re training your mind to scan for threat. To expect what can go wrong.
To stay switched on, ready to act.

That’s not a flaw, that’s what keeps you and others safe.

But repetition matters.

Do it enough times, over enough years…
your brain starts to wire that pattern in.

You don’t just turn it on for work anymore.
It starts running in the background, at home, in public, with your family.

Always scanning.
Always on edge.
Hard to switch off.

If you don’t learn how to downregulate that system, that constant state of activation can start to show up as:

– poor sleep
– irritability
– hypervigilance outside the job
– mental fatigue
– long-term physical and mental health issues

This isn’t weakness.
It’s conditioning.

And the same way it’s trained in…
it can be trained out.

With the right education, awareness, and tools,
you can teach your system how to come down,
not just go up.

Train for recovery, not just performance.

I had no idea about the importance of the nervous system, until I ended up being diagnosed with dysautonomia (autonomic nervous system dysregulation, caused by chronic stress, which affected my heart).

I had a conversation with my Cardiologist a while back about the work I am doing, and he said that even as a specialist, they are not taught or trained in the nervous system. He said I wouldn’t believe the number of first responders he’s treating with almost the exact same symptoms as me, and yet all he could do was put them on medication to slow down their hear rate, without really understanding what was happening to them. He was blown away at how I had healed myself and reduced the severity of my condition without medication.

So if you aren’t sure what your nervous system is responsible for, check out the image below.

If you’re working in the First Responder space, you’re part of a high performance unit, or you are an individual working in a high stress role, I’d love to connect for a conversation.

I am incredibly passionate about this work because it really can change people’s lives. I know… I’ve lived it.

Chronic stress doesn’t just go away, over time it accumulates and can lead to burnout, anxiety, depression, and worse. Like I said, I’ve been there, and I want to help people avoid ending up in the same place I did.

YOU’RE NOT BROKEN, your nervous system is dysregulated.
