Seed & Sage Doula care "Seeds of life. Sage guidance. Gentle support through pregnancy, birth, and beyond." I’m married and a proud mother of three beautiful girls.

My Journey to Becoming a Doula

Hi, I’m Elise, and I’m the heart behind Seed & Sage Doula Care. My journey into birth support has been deeply personal, shaped by my own experiences as a mother and nurturer. Each of my births was unique, and each taught me something profound. My first two daughters were born in hospital, and my third was a transformative water birth. Experiencing these different journeys allowed me to learn more about control, trust, and the incredible intelligence of the body. Through these births, I discovered my true values and beliefs about birth, and I began to understand the importance of being informed, supported, and empowered. Birth has always been a passion of mine. Even before I considered becoming a doula professionally, I instinctively supported friends and family through their pregnancies and birthing journeys. I found joy in holding space for others, guiding them gently, and helping them feel confident and cared for during such a pivotal moment in their lives. Eventually, I realized that this was more than a passion—it was my calling. Supporting others through birth is not just something I do; it’s who I am. With Seed & Sage Doula Care, I am able to dedicate my skills, knowledge, and heart to helping families experience birth in a way that feels empowering, safe, and deeply respected. Every family is unique, and my goal is to hold space, offer guidance, and support each parent in a way that aligns with their values and desires. Your journey is personal, and I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way, offering calm, wisdom, and care. Birth is a sacred journey, and it would be my honor to support yours.

Nap trapped on visits, not a bad way to spend my morning 🥰

A doula’s role in the post birth period is to support you, emotionally, physically, and practically. From holding your baby while you shower, to listening without judgement, offering suppprt even 6months later if needed. Postpartum doula visits aren’t about entertaining or hosting—they’re about rest, recovery, and allowing someone else to be nap trapped so you can get those moments of calm. 🌿

🕊️ Reasons You Shouldn’t Birth on Your Back

1. Reduced pelvic space – Lying flat narrows your pelvis, making it harder for baby to descend.

2. Gravity works against you – Upright or forward-leaning positions help your baby move down naturally.

3. Increased pressure & discomfort – Being on your back can cause more pain and pressure on your tailbone.

4. Blood flow restriction – This position can reduce circulation to you and your baby.

5. Fewer movement options – You lose freedom to listen to your body’s instincts.

🌿 Birth is meant to move — your body knows what to do when it’s free to find its rhythm.

✨ At Seed & Sage Doula Care, I help you explore positions that support your body and your baby for a smoother, more empowered birth.

When I saw this boat on my many beach walks I had a thought come to me. This boat is being pulled and constantly struggling against the oncoming tide and it reminded me of so many mummas with many overwhelming thoughts and people telling them how to give birth. BUT as you look closer you see one main support person at the front, maybe a husband/partner or mum and then another one behind and that would be me, the calm grounded Doula to back you up on your wishes. I guess what im trying to encourage and strengthen you in your journey is that dont allow those loud waves sink you away from what you want your birth to be. Feel grounded and safe by your anchors supporting your decision and allow the rest to flow past.
Be blessed beautiful mummas, we are here for you xx

During my time exploring temples in cambodia I was told of the story of how women helped each other since the 12th century in birthing! Such an incredible experience and joy knowing what we do is valid and important.
We are strong
This carving on the temple says it all.

Dear doula,

We see you...

on those late night drives back home when your heart is pounding and you are so filled to the brim with adrenaline due to proxy-oxytocin you feel like you’ll burst.

Dear doula,

We see you...

when your plans are changed last minute again because babies don’t have calendars, and you miss yet another family dinner because you love to selflessly serve pregnant mamas.

Dear doula,

We see you...

as you wake up in the morning completely sore from 18-hours straight of hip squeezes and counter pressure because you would do anything to make her laboring easier.

Dear doula,

We see you...

while you cry in the shower trying to process when trauma and heartbreak happen and you had a front row seat but couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Dear doula,

We see you...

and we applaud you. Your servant’s heart and selfless devotion do not go unnoticed, and as long as we are around we will be giving you the recognition you deserve!

So, thank you.

You are making a difference, and you are seen!
