Children & Teen Anapana Meditation Course (Ages 8–16)
Date: Sunday, 2 August
Venue: Sparwood Alternative School, 370 Rockingham Rd, Spearwood WA 6163
Time: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
This course offers young people an opportunity to learn Anapana meditation, a simple and practical technique that helps develop concentration, self-awareness, calmness, and positive values in daily life.
The meditation course is open to children between the ages of 8 and 12 or teenagers between 13 and 16. The day is made up of short periods of meditation, facilitated group and craft activities, question and answer time and shared meal breaks.
Children report feeling greater compassion and calm and having improved concentration while being able to manage their anxiety better.
As Goenkaji beautifully said:
"These children's courses are very important because this is the time when you can give them proper guidance to help them live a good Dhamma life."
Parents are encouraged to register their children early, as places may be limited. The course is offered free of charge made possible by donations from past participants and facilitated by volunteers (with WWC check). At the end of the course families usually feel motivated to give a donation so that other children can be offered the course as well.
If you are interested, we recommend looking at the videos on the website together with your child or teen; particularly ‘the compass’, ‘seeds of awareness’ and ‘time to breathe’. These courses are held all over the world although some courses are residential 3 day courses.
