This NAIDOC Week (5–12 July), we proudly recognise and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, achievements, and enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As we celebrate this year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly," we honour five decades of recognising First Nations voices, cultures, and communities, while celebrating the resilience, leadership, and legacy that continue to inspire future generations.

We believe that every person deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and empowered. We know that stronger communities are built through understanding, inclusion, and meaningful connection, and NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all of us to listen, learn, and walk together with respect.

Together, we can help create communities where diversity is celebrated, every voice is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

🌻On the 29th of June, Autism Abilities is joining Occupational Therapy Australia in their Day of Action.

Anyone who accesses occupational therapy supports knows how essential it is. For autistic individuals, OT helps build essential life skills, manage sensory sensitivities, and improve emotional regulation. It fosters greater independence and self-confidence and can make an incredible difference to an individual’s quality of life.

Despite this, the NDIA has continued to freeze pricing for OT for the eighth year in a row. This decision comes at a time when occupational therapists are stretched painfully thin, and only serves to further limit access to supports for participants who can really benefit from them.

To help raise awareness, please share these posts, and share your own story about how important occupational therapy is to you or a loved one. Together, we can make our voices heard and fix the system for our wonderful therapists.

Learning Disability Week 2026 will be in full swing from June 15th - 21st, and here at Autism Abilities we aim to illuminate the importance of increasing visibility for neurodivergent individuals.

Working alongside educators and employers, our therapists and PBS practitioners create strategies by assessing individual needs, designing personalized interventions, and offering ongoing support to foster growth and inclusion. You can take comfort in knowing that our team would see and accept each participant for who they really are.

Let's champion inclusivity, understanding, and the unique strengths that each neurodivergent individual brings to our world together.🌻

Today, we honour the remarkable legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, a Torres Strait Islander man from Mer Island whose courage, determination, and unwavering pursuit of justice changed the course of Australian history.

It is a day to pause, reflect, learn, and acknowledge the importance of truth, respect, and understanding.

By listening to one another and valuing different experiences and perspectives, we can help build stronger, more inclusive communities for future generations.

Mabo Day commemorates Mer Island man Eddie Koiki Mabo and his successful efforts to overturn the legal fiction of terra nullius.
