I’m so grateful for my Ashtangi yogis who managed to avoid the dreaded “2–5pm I CBF and am cancelling my evening plans” phase and made it to class tonight.✨

The studio was FULL.♥️

And I say that not to show off, (I’ve had plenty of classes that haven’t been full) but to genuinely express my appreciation for those who rolled out their mats on a cold Monday night and showed up for themselves.✨

Hopefully you’re starting to experience the benefits of a consistent practice and seeing them come to fruition both on and off the mat.✨

Next week’s class is already booked out, but if your plans change, please cancel as soon as you know you can’t attend so someone on the waitlist can grab a spot.

Love you all. ❤️
Deb✨

It’s a great day when your Amazon book order arrives! 📚💕

Prepare for some new teachings, meditation scripts and some stories too! 💕🤗

And to quote myself:

“Always a student guys, always a student. “

And

“ You learn from me, I learn from you..”

And

“ When the teacher (pause) BECOMES the student.”

Today was such a reminder of how valuable workshops can be. 💕

There’s something special about taking the time to slow things down, ask questions, break movements apart, and really explore the practice beyond the flow of a regular class. Workshops give us the opportunity to build understanding, confidence, strength, and connection, and to play around with things we often rush through.

From breath, to lowering down, to jumping forward and back, it was so great to see everyone giving things a go, learning, and stepping outside their comfort zones.

Thank you to everyone who came along today, brought your energy, curiosity, and willingness to practice. It honestly makes these workshops so rewarding to teach.

So much growth happens when we dedicate time to the details.✨

Peace, love and stealing someone else’s spot,

Deb

The amount of times I’ve heard “ I’d like to try yoga but I’m not very flexible.” Countless! ☺️

The amount of times I’ve heard “ I’d like to try yoga but I’m not very flexible.” Countless! ☺️

This is the most common excuse I hear. And it's the most backwards one.

A systematic review published in the International Journal of Yoga by Woodyard found that regular yoga practice improved flexibility, strength, and balance while simultaneously reducing cortisol, blood pressure, and markers of chronic inflammation.

You don't need to be flexible to start yoga. Yoga is how you become flexible. Stiffness is the invitation, not the disqualification.

Yoga isn't about the shape your body makes. It's about the conversation between your breath and your tension. Every exhale is your body releasing what it no longer needs.

And the benefits go far beyond flexibility. Reduced anxiety. Better sleep. Improved balance that prevents falls. Lower blood pressure. These aren't side effects. They're the main event.

Your body isn't too stiff for yoga. It's stiff because it's been waiting for you to move it gently, consistently, without judgment.

What's one stretch you could try tomorrow morning before you check your phone?

It’s funny how the simplest shapes can be the hardest to stay present in.

In Tadasana, nothing flashy is happening. No deep backbend, no arm balance, no dramatic expression of flexibility. Just standing. Steady. Upright. Breathing.

And yet… this is often where the mind wanders the most.

In an Ashtanga Yoga practice, we move with rhythm and structure. There’s a flow to follow, a sequence to trust. But in Tadasana, especially between sides or before moving on, there’s a pause, a moment of stillness. And that’s where distraction creeps in.

You start thinking:

Did I do that last pose right?
What’s coming next?
How long is left?
What’s for dinner?

The body is still, but the mind is anything but.

Tadasana becomes a mirror. It shows you your habits. Your restlessness. Your need to be doing rather than simply being.

But this is also where the practice deepens.

Because if you can stay present in Tadasana, grounded through your feet, lifting through your spine, steady in your breath, you’re not just “waiting” for the next pose. You’re practicing awareness. You’re building concentration. You’re anchoring yourself.

The real work isn’t always in the big poses.
Sometimes, it’s in the quiet ones we rush past.

Next time you find yourself in Tadasana, notice the urge to drift.
And instead of following it, come back.

Stand.
Breathe.
Be

Monday nights are where it’s at!

We have FOUR more classes in this block.

The next block will include some of the intermediate series! 😳

Next, we begin to weave elements of the Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate Series into our regular practice.

If you’ve been practicing the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, this is a natural next step. It’s a chance to explore new shapes, new patterns, and a different kind of strength and openness.

Think more back extension poses and more twists.

And before you talk yourself out of it, this is still very achievable. I PROMISE. 🤗

Variations will always be offered.
Options will always be there.
You’re not expected to “perform” the full expression of anything. This is a more gentle approach to Ashtanga. 🥰

This isn’t about ticking off advanced poses.
It’s about staying curious, working intelligently, and meeting yourself where you are.

Same steady breath. Same focus. Just a little more depth.

All welcome, though please note it is quite a dynamic practice. You can join in at any time. ♥️

Monday nights, as always, come as you are.
