💙 Meet the people behind Tapping into Minds

We’re Laura and Jack Love - husband and wife, and the people behind Tapping into Minds.

We’ve been married for almost 20 years, and along the way we’ve built a family, careers and now a small business together.

Laura is a psychologist with experience working with children, adolescents and adults, with particular interests in anxiety, grief and bereavement, and supporting women through life’s challenges and transitions. She also incorporates Clinical EFT (Tapping) into her psychological practice where appropriate.

Jack is our co-founder and director, working behind the scenes across enquiries, bookings, operations and the many practical details that keep our telehealth practice running.

Together, we’re building a warm, approachable and professional space where people can access psychological support from wherever they are in Australia.

Thanks for being here and supporting our Aussie, family-run Telehealth clinic. 💙

Meet Jack 👋 - the other half of Tapping into Minds.

You might know Laura, our Principal Psychologist, but there’s another very important person behind the scenes.

Jack is our Co-Founder & Director, looking after the day-to-day running of Tapping into Minds, managing enquiries and bookings, helping clients navigate the intake and scheduling process, and making sure everything keeps running smoothly.

He’s also Laura’s husband and dad to their two very active boys - so life outside Tapping into Minds is certainly never boring! 😂

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we thought it was about time we introduced him properly.

Jack, thank you for everything you do. Tapping into Minds genuinely couldn’t exist without you. 🤍

Meet Laura. 🤍

Our Principal Psychologist recently shared a little about who she is, what she does, and why she's passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges.

Head over to Laura Louise Love Psychologist and say hello.

Hi, I'm Laura. 👋

I'm an Australian psychologist, wife, mum to two energetic boys, and the Principal Psychologist at Tapping into Minds.

Together with my husband Jack, we run our telehealth practice from the beautiful Cairns Northern Beaches, supporting children, adolescents, adults and families across Australia.

I'm passionate about helping people better understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, and build lives that feel meaningful, connected and fulfilling.

Alongside providing therapy, I offer clinical supervision for psychologists, present at conferences, contribute to research, and I'm currently completing a higher degree.

Here you'll find practical psychology, evidence-informed insights, reflections on parenting and wellbeing, a little behind the scenes of private practice, and glimpses of life in tropical Far North Queensland.

Whether you've been following along for years or have only just found this page, welcome. I'm so glad you're here.

🎉 Tapping into Minds turned 2!

Over two years ago, Tapping into Minds was more than just an idea - it was a dream we decided to build together.

Today we're celebrating two years of supporting Australians through compassionate, evidence-based psychological care.

While Laura provides therapy and clinical supervision, Jack works behind the scenes keeping everything running - from first enquiries and client support to the countless jobs that make a small business possible.

Together we've balanced school drop-offs, family life, conferences, research, late nights and plenty of coffee... all while building a practice that reflects what matters most to us: compassion, connection and evidence-based care.

To every client who has trusted us, every health professional who has referred to us, and everyone who has supported our journey -

thank you.

We're incredibly grateful you've been part of these first two years.

Here's to the next chapter.

🌿 A short mid-year break

Tapping into Minds will be taking a short break during the school holidays.

We'll be offline for a few days to rest, recharge, and spend some quality time with family - something we encourage our clients to prioritise too.

Messages and enquiries received during this time will be responded to as soon as possible after we return.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to welcoming clients back from 12 July, refreshed and ready to continue providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

📢 Important Update

From 1 July 2026, the Medicare rebate for eligible psychology sessions under a Mental Health Care Plan will increase to $101.55 for a standard 50+ minute consultation (for up to 10 sessions per calendar year).

From the same date, our telehealth consultation fee will increase to $240 per hour.

Our fees are reviewed annually to reflect changes in operating costs, ongoing professional development, and the sustainability of providing high-quality, evidence-based psychological care.

Medicare rebates are set independently by the Australian Government and may change each year. While rebates generally increase slightly, they do not reflect the full cost of providing psychological services.

Our website will be updated shortly to reflect these changes.

🤍 Thank you for choosing Tapping into Minds and for trusting us with your mental health care.

Many people describe feeling pressure to “balance” work and life, as if both can always sit in equal harmony.

In reality, life is often more fluid than that.

We find it can be helpful to think in terms of integration - small moments of wellbeing that exist within the life already being lived.

This morning, that looked like a sunrise run by the water 🌅

Lately I’ve been thinking less about work-life balance and more about work-life integration.

Between a full-time role, research, private practice, parenting, and everyday life, balance can feel like a moving target.

What I’m noticing is the value of small moments of wellbeing woven into the week, even when life is full.

This morning, that looked like a sunrise run by the water. 🌅

Perhaps wellbeing isn’t something we achieve once life settles down. Perhaps it’s something we learn to integrate into the life we’re already living.

🌿✨ Sharing some recent reflections from Laura on stress, eustress, and why investing in wellbeing matters.

In a fast-paced world, understanding the difference between helpful stress and chronic overwhelm can make all the difference to our mental and physical wellbeing 💛

We hope this offers a gentle reminder to check in with yourself and prioritise wellness.

Can stress be good for us? 🌿

In short, yes - but not in the way you might think.

The impact of being in a prolonged “stressed out” mode can be particularly damaging to our health. When we are constantly worrying and mentally churning through life’s demands, prolonged activation of stress hormones can place significant strain on our systems.

Research shows that chronic stress may increase vulnerability to colds, high blood pressure, and even gastrointestinal symptoms.

However, stress in moderation can actually serve us well. This is known as *eustress* - the kind of stress that helps us focus, feel energised, and perform at our best during important moments such as exams, presentations, or key life events ✨

In our fast-paced modern world, many of us are triggering a stress response daily. Often, stress occurs when our threshold for coping has been exceeded.

This is why investing in wellness matters so deeply. Supporting our mental health is not just about mindset - it’s about taking guided, intentional action to reduce the risk of secondary mental and physical health concerns 💛

Clinical EFT (tapping) is often referred to as a stress-reduction strategy and may be helpful in reducing everyday stress.

For those interested in the science behind tapping, this article offers a helpful overview of the mechanisms involved:

A perspective from our principal psychologist, Laura Louise Love 🧠🌿
Anxiety is not something we need to eliminate completely - often the work is about changing our relationship with it.

🧠 Anxiety is often misunderstood.

Many people believe the goal is to eliminate it completely.

In psychology, that is rarely the aim.

The work is often about changing our relationship with anxiety -
learning to understand it, respond differently, and still live fully. 🌿
