It’s Speech Pathology Week! 🎉💙

This year’s theme is “Communication Creates Possibility.”

Communication helps us connect with others, express who we are, build relationships, learn, participate and feel understood. It can open doors, build confidence and create opportunities for people to be part of the moments that matter.

This week, we celebrate the incredible work of speech pathologists and the many ways they support people across all stages of life - from developing language and literacy, to finding confidence in their voice, building social connections, and supporting safe and effective eating and drinking.

We’re incredibly proud of our amazing speech pathology team and the care, dedication, compassion, and advocacy they bring to every person and family they work with. 💙

Thank you to all the speech pathologists who bring this theme to life every day, helping people find their voice, connect with others and unlock new opportunities.

A wonderful day recently at the Aged & Disability Expo in Adelaide! 💙

It was a great opportunity to connect with like-minded providers, build relationships across the sector, and meet individuals and families to hear what matters most to them.

And, as usual, our CAH helpers were there to lend a hand - setting up, packing up, and enjoying the expo! 😄💪

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat. It was a fantastic day of connection and community! ❤️

🐵🏆 Monkey Bar Champion! 🏆🐵

Monkey bars are more than just playground fun - they're a fantastic way for children to develop important skills while staying active and engaged. 💪✨

As children climb, swing, and hang, they're strengthening:
💪 Upper body and core strength
✋ Grip strength and endurance
🤝 Bilateral coordination
🧠 Motor planning and body awareness
⭐ Confidence and perseverance

These everyday play experiences help children challenge themselves, develop new skills, and celebrate their achievements along the way.

Occupational therapy can support children to build on these foundations through fun, meaningful activities tailored to their individual goals. 🌈

On ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of all Australian and New Zealand servicemen and servicewomen, past and present. Today, we remember, we reflect, and we express our deepest gratitude. ❤️

Pancakes for fussy eaters? Yes please! 🥞💚

At CAH, we love finding simple ways to build nutrition into everyday favourites. Here’s a go-to idea (that may not work for every child, but can be a helpful option to try!):

✨ Power Pancakes ✨
Using a basic pancake mix (the packet kind is totally fine!), just add:
🥛 Milk
🥚 Egg
🥑 Mashed avocado (for healthy fats and a creamy texture)
🥒 Very finely grated (almost obliterated!) zucchini
Optional extra:
🧀 A tablespoon of ricotta cheese (if preferred)

Mix it all together (a stick blender is ideal!) and cook as usual. The zucchini and avocado blend right in, creating a smooth, consistent texture. The pancakes turn out soft and fluffy - great for kids who prefer predictable colour and texture.

👩‍👧 This is actually a trick our very own director uses with her kids at home!

👶 Why we like it:
✔ Gentle way to introduce veggies
✔ Supports exposure without pressure
✔ Familiar food = less resistance
✔ Great for sensory exploration in a safe way

Serve with a favourite topping (or keep it plain!) and let your child explore at their own pace 💛
