September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, especially as the years go by. The good news is, when it’s found early, it’s often very treatable.

A simple chat with your doctor could make all the difference.

Here are a few starter steps to take:
🩺 Book a check-up if you’re over 50 (or 40 with a family history)
💬 Talk openly with your GP about testing
👀 Watch for changes and don’t brush them off

Whether it’s help getting to appointments or a friendly face during recovery, you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to lend a caring hand at home. 💙

Now what? 💭

That’s exactly what so many families think when the approval letter finally arrives.

Getting approved for aged care support is a big step. But it can also feel like the start of a whole new maze of providers, budgets, and fees. But you don’t have to figure it out alone. 🤝

At Senior Helpers, we sit down with you, break it all down in plain language, and help you compare what actually matters for your loved one.

If you’re at that “Okay… now what?” stage, reach out. We’d love to help you make sense of it all.

Today is Daffodil Day. 🌼
Cancer touches so many of us. Today we stand with those living with a diagnosis, we remember loved ones who are no longer with us, and we thank the carers and health professionals who give so much.
A cancer journey can be tiring and overwhelming. Some days, even small tasks feel like a lot. You don’t have to face it alone.

Winter is the perfect time for warm, nourishing meals. 🥣
The colder months bring some wonderful produce, and it’s often cheaper and tastier when it’s in season. Good nutrition helps keep energy up, supports strength, and can lift the spirits on chilly days.
Here are a few winter favourites to enjoy:
🎃 Pumpkin: lovely roasted or blended into a cosy soup
🥬 Brussels sprouts: roast them until golden for a nutty flavour
🥕 Parsnips: sweet and hearty, great mashed or roasted
🍊 Citrus & grapefruit: bright, fresh, and full of vitamin C
🥝 Kiwi: a gentle boost of goodness, perfect on its own or with yoghurt
Simple meals can be some of the most comforting!
If preparing meals feels like a lot some days, that’s okay. Our team is here to lend a hand with cooking, shopping and daily tasks at home.

🧠💜 3-9 August is National Stroke Week.
A stroke happens when blood can’t reach part of the brain. It can strike suddenly, and every second matters. ⏱️
Knowing the warning signs can help save a life. Just remember to act FAST:
😮 Face: has their face drooped on one side?
💪 Arms: can they lift both arms?
🗣️ Speech: is their speech slurred or muddled?
🚨 Time: time is critical. Call 000 straight away.
Life after a stroke can look different. Everyday tasks, movement and confidence may take time to rebuild.
Our caring team is here to support stroke survivors at home.
