Have you ever wondered why you can feel anxious, on edge or overwhelmed… even when nothing is actually wrong in that moment?
Sometimes your body is still responding to what it has been through, rather than what is happening right now.
When you’ve experienced prolonged stress, emotional pain or trauma, your nervous system can become so accustomed to being on alert that it struggles to recognise when it is finally safe.
That’s why you might suddenly feel anxious in a perfectly ordinary situation. You may overthink a conversation, feel uncomfortable when everything is calm, become easily startled, or feel as though you’re constantly waiting for something to go wrong.
It can be exhausting.
And sometimes, simply telling yourself to “relax” doesn’t work — because your mind may understand that you’re safe, while your body hasn’t quite received the message yet.
This is something I understand deeply in the work I do.
Healing isn’t always about talking about what happened over and over again. Sometimes it’s about gently helping the body experience safety again… slowing down, breathing, reconnecting with yourself and allowing your nervous system to realise:
“I’m safe here. I don’t have to be on guard right now.”
You don’t have to relive and talk about anything specific. You just need to learn to breath, let go and learn techniques that being You peace. That is the kind of space I offer you when they walk through my door. 🤍
