I’m Anastasia Schild, a Clinical Psychologist and founder of Walking Beside You, providing outreach mental health and assessment services across Cooktown, Hope Vale, Wujal Wujal, and Rossville. I work in assessment, di
agnosis, and intervention with children, adults, and families with complex trauma, neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, FASD), a range of clinical disorders. I believe healing happens through Indigenous metholodgies of connection, understanding, and two-way learning — guided by the principles of Dadirri, Ganma, and Garma. Every session is tailored, practical, and strengths-based — helping people make sense of their story and build long-term wellbeing. Beyond formal qualifications, my professional development and supervision reflect a deep commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded practice. I have undertaken extensive additional training and supervision in:
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-informed and neurobiological approaches
Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Schema Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt Therapy
Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Therapies
Clinical Play Therapy (in training)
Motivational Interviewing and Strengths-Based Practice
Neuroaffirming and family-centred interventions
Parenting and attachment-based programs
Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) frameworks for Aboriginal peoples
This combination of scientific knowledge, and targeted training, and deep community connection allows me to deliver care that is clinically rigorous, culturally safe, and tailored to the realities of remote and First Nations communities.
