In my experience, motherhood has a way of confronting women with something deeply disorienting: the realisation that no amount of competence can fully control an environment built around unpredictability.

Children get sick on important days.

Toddlers melt down minutes before you need to leave the house.

Babies wake all night despite every carefully researched sleep strategy.

Sensitive children feel things deeply and intensely, and will need support because of this at times when you may not always have capacity.

As a result of these factors (and so many others!), many women quietly find themselves asking:

“Why does this feel like it’s undoing me?”

I wrote about temperament mismatches, nervous system needs, and the invisible emotional load of trying to parent a child whose wiring feels very different to your own.

I meant to post this weeks ago (in follow up to ‘Part 1’ that I published on my Substack way back then), but kept delaying because other things got prioritised ... I can see now that perhaps it was more about me being ready to share it. 🫣

I can feel the vulnerability hangover loading as I type!
