🏉 Another fantastic day on the sidelines! ⛑️💙

Today, the Illawarra Urgent Response team was proud to provide first aid coverage for our friends at Kiama Junior Rugby.

With perfect weather, exciting matches, and plenty of high-scoring action, it was a great day for everyone involved. Thankfully, the majority of patients we treated required only minor care, allowing them to get back to enjoying the day as quickly as possible.

A huge congratulations goes to the organisers, managers, referees, ground staff, volunteers, and officials, whose professionalism and dedication ensured the day ran seamlessly. We’d also like to acknowledge every player, spectator, and patient we had the pleasure of assisting. The respect, sportsmanship, and positive attitude shown throughout the day truly reflected what junior sport is all about.

Being trusted to support local sporting clubs is something we never take for granted. It’s a privilege to stand beside our community, helping keep players, families, and supporters safe while they enjoy the game they love.

As the season heads towards the finals, we wish every team the very best of luck. We can’t wait to be back on the sidelines again soon!

Thank you, Kiama Junior Rugby, for having us.

📱 Community Safety Notice – National AusAlert Test

Illawarra Urgent Response would like to make our community aware of the upcoming national test of the new Australian Government AusAlert emergency warning system.

🗓 Date: Monday, 27 July 2026
🕑 Time (NSW): 2:00 PM AEST

During the test, most compatible mobile phones, tablets and smart watches across Australia will receive a loud siren-like alert and vibration, even if the device is on silent or Do Not Disturb mode. The alert will clearly state that it is a test. (AusAlert)

💜 A message for anyone experiencing domestic and family violence, coercive control, elder abuse, or anyone who keeps a hidden phone for their personal safety.

This national test has the potential to expose concealed devices, which may place some people at increased risk of harm if those devices are discovered.

The Australian Government recommends that if receiving the alert could put you or someone else at risk, you should:
• Turn your phone off or place it in Aeroplane Mode at least one hour before the scheduled test.
• Leave the device switched off or in Aeroplane Mode for 24 hours after the scheduled test before turning it back on if it is safe to do so. (AusAlert)

Please only do this if it is safe and appropriate for your circumstances. If you are concerned about your safety, consider speaking with a trusted support service to develop a safety plan.

If you or someone you know needs support, confidential help is available:

💜 1800RESPECT – 1800 737 732
Domestic, family and sexual violence counselling and support (24/7).

🧡 Lifeline Australia – 13 11 14
24-hour crisis support and su***de prevention.

💙 MensLine Australia – 1300 789 978
Support for men experiencing family and relationship issues, including family violence.

🖤 13YARN – 13 92 76
24/7 crisis support by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

🩶 1800ELDERHelp – 1800 353 374
Information and support regarding elder abuse.

🚨 If you are in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000) if it is safe to do so.

Please consider sharing this post. Raising awareness of this test may help protect someone who is living in silence and relying on a hidden device for their safety.

For Community. For Country. Always.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Many people think that having a first aid kit at an event is all that’s needed.

The reality is that equipment is only as effective as the people using it.

Having trained first aid personnel on site means someone is there to:
🚑 Assess injuries and illnesses quickly.
🩹 Provide immediate treatment before an ambulance arrives.
❤️ Recognise life-threatening emergencies early.
📋 Keep accurate treatment records for organisers.
😊 Give attendees peace of mind so they can enjoy the event.

Whether it’s a community market, sporting event, festival, school function, or cultural gathering, having dedicated first aid personnel can make all the difference when every second counts.

At Illawarra Urgent Response, we’re proud to provide professional, affordable event first aid services throughout the Illawarra and surrounding regions, helping keep our communities safe while supporting the events that bring us together.

What an incredible day! 💙🖤🤍

Today, the Illawarra Urgent Response team had the privilege of joining our friends at CareWays Community for their NAIDOC Week Community Event at Koonawarra Community Centre.

Although we weren’t providing first aid coverage at this year’s event, we were honoured to be invited along as a stallholder—and what a fantastic day it was!

Today also marked an exciting milestone for our organisation, as Illawarra Urgent Response officially entered the First Aid Supply industry. Throughout the day we showcased a range of first aid kits, medical equipment and fire safety products, while our team was on hand to provide friendly advice on first aid, emergency preparedness and fire safety.

One of the highlights of the day was our interactive fire extinguisher demonstration game, where participants used a fire extinguisher to hit a ball off a cone—demonstrating proper technique in a fun and engaging way. It attracted plenty of interest from both children and adults, and seeing members of our community gain confidence in using a fire extinguisher before they ever need one is exactly why we love attending events like these.

A huge thank you also goes to Anakin from Apex Response, who generously volunteered his time to dress in full structural firefighting protective clothing and breathing apparatus (CABA). His demonstrations gave children and families the opportunity to see what firefighters really look like during an emergency, helping to educate the community while reducing fear should they ever need assistance from the fire service. We truly appreciate your support and look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Apex Response into the future.

To the team at CareWays Community, and to the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community—thank you for welcoming us so warmly and allowing us to be part of such a meaningful celebration.

At Illawarra Urgent Response, NAIDOC Week is far more than a date on the calendar. It is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while reflecting on the importance of respect, understanding and reconciliation. We believe that strong communities are built by standing together, learning from one another and ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported. We are incredibly proud to stand alongside our First Nations communities during NAIDOC Week and throughout the entire year.

As we continue to grow, so too does our commitment to serving our community. Whether you need professional first aid services for your next event, quality first aid and fire safety supplies, or simply friendly advice to help keep your family, workplace or organisation prepared, Illawarra Urgent Response is here to help.

From all of us at Illawarra Urgent Response, thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, watched a demonstration, asked a question or supported our new venture today. We can’t wait to see you again at the next community event.

For Community. For Country. Forever and Always. 💙🖤❤️💛

What a truly special day, and a wonderful way to begin NAIDOC Week.

Today, our team had the privilege of supporting Shellharbour City Council’s Community NAIDOC Event by providing event first aid coverage, helping ensure the day was safe for everyone in attendance.

The event brought together people from across our community to reflect on the past, celebrate the oldest continuing culture in the world, and recognise the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It was a day filled with culture, connection, learning and respect.

For us at Illawarra Urgent Response, NAIDOC Week is much more than a week of celebrations. It is a time to honour the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, acknowledge the stories and knowledge that have been passed down through countless generations, and reaffirm our commitment to walking alongside our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with respect, understanding and genuine partnership.

As a local organisation, we are incredibly proud to support Indigenous-led events and community initiatives throughout the Illawarra. We believe every community deserves to feel safe, supported and valued, and it is an honour to contribute in a small way by providing first aid services that allow these important celebrations to take place with confidence and peace of mind.

A heartfelt thank you to Shellharbour City Council for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful day. We look forward to continuing to support our community throughout NAIDOC Week and beyond.

If you have an upcoming community event, festival, cultural gathering or sporting event and want the reassurance of professional, reliable event first aid, look no further than Illawarra Urgent Response. We’d be honoured to support your event and help keep your community safe.

For community. For Country. Always. 🖤💛❤️

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – Investment Email Scam ⚠️

Our team recently received the email below, which has all the hallmarks of a common investment scam.

The sender claims to be a lawyer representing a wealthy overseas investor looking for someone to help move and invest large sums of money. While it may sound legitimate at first, this is a well-known scam designed to gain your trust before eventually asking for money, bank details, or personal information.

🚩 Red flags include:
• Unsolicited contact from someone you’ve never met.
• Vague references to a “wealthy investor” from a “mineral-rich African country.”
• Requests to continue the conversation via a private email address.
• Promises of financial opportunities with very little detail.
• Pressure to respond urgently.

💡 How to protect yourself:
✅ Never reply to unsolicited investment offers.
✅ Never provide personal, banking, or identification details.
✅ Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown senders.
✅ Report the email as spam and delete it.
✅ If an offer seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is.

Scammers target individuals, businesses, charities, and community organisations every day. Staying informed is one of the best ways to protect yourself and those around you.

Please feel free to share this post to help raise awareness and prevent others from becoming victims.

Stay safe,
Illawarra Urgent Response

What a fantastic night! 🚑💙

Tonight, the Illawarra Urgent Response team was proud to provide first aid coverage for Albion Park Beats & Eats, supporting our friends at Shellharbour City Council.

Our crew had an amazing evening and we’re pleased to report that there were no first aid incidents, making it a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.

It was also an honour to catch up with the Member for Kiama, The Hon. Katelin McInerney MP. We greatly appreciate her support for our local community and community events.

We always enjoy working alongside the team at Shellharbour City Council and look forward to returning to provide first aid coverage at the next Oak Flats Beats & Eats event.
