ing exercise after a cancer diagnosis. Founded in 2001, the DAM Busters were the first breast cancer survivor dragon boat club established in metropolitan Melbourne. Today, our club proudly welcomes ALL cancer survivors and their supporters who want to enjoy the camaraderie, fitness, and fun that dragon boating offers. We believe that life after a cancer diagnosis can be full of strength, connection, and joy. Through paddling together, we rebuild confidence, restore health, and celebrate resilience — both on and off the water. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, all ages, and all fitness levels. Whether you’re recovering from treatment, supporting a loved one, or simply seeking a positive and welcoming community, the DAM Busters offer a place where everyone belongs. Dragon boating is more than a sport for us — it’s a symbol of hope, teamwork, and thriving beyond cancer. You‘ll find us on the water twice a week:
* Sunday 8:30am boat & equipment prep and warm up
9:00-10:00am on the water, followed by coffee
* Tuesday 6 :00pm boat & equipment prep and warmup
6:30-7:30pm on the water, followed by dinner

We’re excited to invite you to join us in celebrating the 25th anniversary of DAM Busters BCS Dragon Boat Club!
The festivities kick off at 1pm, and we have a fantastic lineup planned to make the day memorable.
There will be door prizes to welcome you, engaging presentations, fun games, and plenty of lively conversation with friends old and new.

It promises to be a wonderful occasion to reflect on our journey and enjoy each other’s company.

Today certainly tested us with some seriously cold and windy conditions, but when you’re paddling alongside such a fantastic group of people, even the toughest conditions become so much easier — and a whole lot more fun! 💪💕

Great company, plenty of laughs and another training session done. Wouldn’t have it any other way! ❤️🐉

And now… some of us are off to start our trip to France for the 2026 IBCPC Dragon Boating! 🇫🇷🐉✨ Good luck girls — have the best time and enjoy every moment of this amazing adventure! 💕🚣‍♀️

The DAM Busters BCS Dragon Boat Club are getting ready to head to Aix-les-Bains, France for the 2026 IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival, being held from 24–30 August 2026.

This incredible event will bring together 4,500 participants from 25 countries — making it the largest attendance ever for an inaugural IBCPC Festival in France!

We feel incredibly privileged, proud and excited to be part of such an extraordinary international gathering of women, united by friendship, strength, resilience and a shared love of dragon boating.

For our DAM Buster ladies, this is about so much more than paddling. It’s about the friendships, the laughter, the memories and the experience of standing alongside thousands of inspiring women from around the world. 💗

Three DAM Busters paddlers have proudly put themselves forward in the Auroras- Australian Dragon Boat team selection process!

Helen trialled in the Senior C and BCP categories, Amanda trialled in the Senior B category, and Renee trialled in the newly introduced BCP category.

Helen and Amanda travelled to Canberra for Premier/Senior Camp 1, where they completed benchmarking and crew testing across Saturday and Sunday. The weekend certainly lived up to Canberra’s winter reputation, with a freezing -3.6°C start on Saturday and a slightly warmer 3°C on Sunday!

Renee attended the Sub Camp at Docklands a few weeks earlier, where she and the other paddlers not attending the Canberra camp completed the same benchmarking activities as part of the selection process.

A huge congratulations to all three paddlers for their hard work, dedication and willingness to challenge themselves. Everyone at DAM Busters is incredibly proud of your efforts and wishes you all the very best as you progress through the next stage of the Australian team selection process. Fingers crossed! 🇦🇺🐉💙

DAM Busters Dragon Spirit Award is presented annually to the team member who has truly lived our team values: Determined in Spirit, Mighty of Heart and is a Myth Buster.
SUE MASON is this years’ worthy recipient of the Dragon Spirit Award.
Determined in spirit – Sue wants nothing more than to see DAM BUSTERS continue to be successful and all of her actions drive toward this.
Mighty of heart - Sue never says NO, she goes above and beyond for the betterment of the team.
Busting myths - This season Sue managed to get DAM Busters sponsorship from Z&J Sport and numerous media opportunities, including: publication in the Docklands News, a live TV broadcast with Tony Jones, a photo opportunity with the Docklands Community Instagram/pages.  All of which continues to publicise the benefits of dragon boating after a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Congratulations Sue 🎉🥳🏆, you’re one in a million.

These are some of the wonderful women from Two Abreast, Côte è Côte in Montreal.We haven't met them yet but we are already firm friends thanks to Whatsapp and social media! We will join together with these Canadian lovelies as a composite team 🇨🇦🇦🇺 at the 2026 IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival, France and can't wait to get to Aix le Bains. 🐲🩷
