Sage Counselling & Psychotherapy - Hunter Valley I am an experienced trauma-informed therapist, available to support you in working through difficulties you are currently experiencing. Anything…and everything.

Wondering what you can talk about in therapy? Contact me for a free 15 minute consultation. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in training
Diploma in Counselling
Bachelor of Education
Certificate IV in Community Services

I have worked as a Community Worker for almost a decade and spent many hours informally counselling clients from all walks of life on diverse issues. I have developed the capacity to

'hear the unhearable' and knew that I needed to move into the therapeutic field, completing my Diploma in Counselling. I am currently in my third year of training to be a psychoanalytic psychotherapist (2025). Psychotherapy is a medium to long-term therapy, and was initially developed to support people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) / Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is also suitable for treating BiPolar Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, depression (particularly treatment-resistant depression), anxiety, suicidality and non-suicidal self injury (NSSI) behaviours, along with issues involving relationships, sexuality and sexual abuse. I currently offer therapy for individuals over the age of 16 years.

Trigger warning, this clip relates to childhood abuse.

If you need support, please reach out to family, friends, a health professional or Lifeline.

It looks like an interesting and important episode to watch, in relation to Dissociative Identity Disorder.

I have opened up some new appointment times for Monday mornings and Thursday in the early afternoon.

I specialise in seeing clients who have borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, PTSD, have experienced childhood abuse and those living with depression, anxiety and suicidality, amongst other conditions.

Please reach out if it feels right for you - I know it can be scary, new things sometimes are, but if we never try, we'll never know.

I would be happy to have a phone or email conversation with you to answer any questions.

Making the decision to do something different comes with many emotions - excitement, anticipation, anxiety, fear... I guess the reality is, if we continue doing the same things, accepting what currently 'is', then all we will get is more of the same.

Sounds obvious, I know.

It takes effort and energy to stay the same, just as it does to try something new.

The question is, where would you rather put your energy?

With warmth,

Jo

My thoughts are with the Jewish and Bondi communities at this tragically sad time.

Please reach out for support if you are affected.

There is a lot of pressure to be 'happy' around this time of year, however the reality for some people is quite different.

It can be a reminder of fractured families, relationships or friendships. There may be intense grief when thinking of a loved one, human or animal, who is not physically here. It may feel unsettling with the end of an era of study or work or regular activities.

Whatever the reasons, whatever the feelings, it is important to do what is best for you and your family at this time.

Reach out for support if you need it, or close ranks - but only briefly - if that feels right for you.

I will be available during the December/January period on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day) should you feel you would like to talk to someone.

As always, with warmth,

Jo
