Before Havilah Social Work and Counselling Services came to be, I was reading Our Daily Bread, a Christian devotional Bible study, when the word Havilah and its meaning deeply resonated with me.
The meaning of Havilah has been described as “to writhe in pain” and “bring forth,” signifying the making of something beautiful through pain (Anna Cetas, Our Daily Bread, February 21, 2020).
I could not think of a more fitting name for a counselling service.
At Havilah, we recognise that pain, trauma, grief, and life’s struggles can feel overwhelming. Yet within those experiences, healing, growth, resilience, and restoration can emerge. Our hope is to walk alongside individuals with compassion, support, honesty and dignity as they navigate their journey toward healing and wholeness.
