🍃 Have you ever noticed how working with clay feels different from drawing or painting?

Clay engages us through touch. It can be moulded, shaped, carved, and transformed - making it a powerful medium for creative expression and emotional exploration.

In art therapy, clay offers a unique way to externalise thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Its tactile nature can help people feel more grounded in the present moment while encouraging self-awareness, reflection, and insight.

Whether you're creating a simple form or a complex sculpture, clay invites you to trust your hands, engage your senses, and discover what emerges through the creative process.

What has been your experience working with clay? We'd love to hear your thoughts below 👇

💭 Did you know that different art materials can support different forms of emotional expression?

In art therapy, the materials we choose are never "just supplies" - they can become powerful tools for exploring feelings, experiences, memories and personal growth.

Remember, there’s no 'right' material to use, only what feels right for the story, feeling or experience you want to explore.

Which art material do you naturally gravitate towards, and what do you think it says about you? 🖼️

At the diploma level, we want to go deeper ✨

The focus is on the clients, on people. The certificate level teaches us how to work with the unconsciousness through art, but at the diploma level, you learn how to make a real impact on people's lives.

“How to work with families, how to work with children, how to work with trauma, how to work with mental health problems, how to work well - that actually makes a real difference. That's what the diploma course all about. So please don't ever stop at the certificate level!” - Rob Gray
