🐾 SATURDAY APPOINTMENT UPDATE 🐾

From Saturday 5th September, a 10% weekend surcharge will apply to all Saturday grooming services at Pooch Pawfection.

The surcharge will be applied to each dog booked and helps cover the additional staffing costs associated with weekend penalty rates.

We love being able to offer Saturday appointments for clients who can’t make it during the week, and this change allows us to continue doing so while supporting our amazing team. 💙

If you currently have a Saturday booking and would prefer to move to a weekday, please send us a message and we’ll be happy to help.

We’d love the help of our amazing Pooch Pawfection community to support families staying at Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney.

Throughout August, we’ll be collecting items from their current Wishlist to help make life a little easier and more comfortable for families while they’re away from home supporting a sick child.

Their current Wishlist includes:

🍯 Jam, honey & maple syrup
🧂 Raw sugar, sugar sachets & sweetener
🍳 Cooking oil & BBQ sauce

All donated items MUST be brand new and unopened.

We understand that life happens and sometimes appointments need to be changed or cancelled. As a small business, though, late cancellations and no-shows have a much bigger impact than many people realise.

When an appointment is cancelled at the last minute, it often leaves us with a space that we can’t fill in time. That means our groomers lose valuable work hours, and our small business loses income that we rely on to cover wages, rent, utilities and the ongoing costs of running the salon.

Every appointment booked with us reserves dedicated time, equipment and staff specifically for your dog. Unfortunately, when that appointment isn’t attended or is cancelled with little notice, those resources have already been allocated.

We genuinely appreciate our clients who provide plenty of notice when they need to make changes to their bookings. It allows us the opportunity to offer the appointment to another family waiting for a spot and helps keep our schedule running smoothly for everyone.

Pooch Pawfection is a premium, fast-paced grooming salon in Penrith, and we’re looking for an experienced Dog Groomer to join and help lead our team.
🗓 Full Time / Part Time
Monday - Friday | Occasional Saturdays

About the role:
This is a hands-on position for a groomer who takes pride in their work, values animal welfare, and enjoys supporting and leading a team.
Key responsibilities include:
• Performing high-quality grooms across a range of breeds
• Managing day-to-day salon workflow
• Supporting the grooming team
• Maintaining high grooming and animal welfare standards
• Communicating professionally with clients and the team
• Assisting with check-in and check-out of dogs when needed
What we’re looking for:
✔ Strong time management skills
✔ Grooming experience and ability to groom independently
✔ Strong communication skills
✔ Reliable, self-motivated, and professional
✔ Positive attitude and strong work ethic

❄️ Winter coats need winter maintenance! ❄️

How handsome is Rex the Groodle puppy after his pamper session with us? 🐾🤎

As the weather cools down, many families choose to keep their pups in a longer, fluffier coat through winter — and we completely understand why! But did you know that longer coats actually require MORE maintenance than those short summer clip-offs?

🐾 More brushing at home
🐾 More regular grooming appointments
🐾 More drying after wet walks and rainy days
🐾 More attention to friction areas like collars, harnesses and jumpers

Without regular maintenance, those beautiful winter coats can quickly become matted, uncomfortable and difficult to manage.

For our fluffy Groodles, Cavoodles and other Oodle friends, we generally recommend grooming every 2-4 weeks (especially for longer coats) through winter to keep coats healthy, comfortable and mat-free.

Today we had a visit from the RSPCA at Pooch Pawfection. 🐾💙

The health, safety and wellbeing of every dog in our care has always been our number one priority. From the moment they walk through our doors until they head home, we strive to provide the highest standard of care in a safe, clean and caring environment.

Receiving such positive feedback from the RSPCA was incredibly rewarding and a wonderful reminder that our team’s hard work and commitment to animal welfare shines through in everything we do.

A huge thank you to the RSPCA for taking the time to visit us, and an even bigger thank you to our amazing team for the care, compassion and dedication they show every single day. ❤️

The secret isn’t avoiding grooming—it’s grooming more regularly.

Longer coats need:

Winter is actually one of the biggest matting seasons we see. Damp coats, muddy adventures, jackets and extra cuddles under blankets all create friction that causes knots to tighten against the skin.
