Have you ever felt like you’ve had to apologise for a rumbly tummy during a massage? 😦

Your rumblin’ tummy is actually a great sign! It means your Parasympathetic Nervous System has kicked in, or your “Rest and Digest” state🧘‍♀️

But what does this mean? 🤔

The autonomic nervous system has 2 states: “Fight or Flight”, or your Sympathetic Nervous System, which kicks in when you are being chased by a lion 🦁 or seeing 4000 unread emails in your inbox 🫨.. it can’t differentiate between good and bad stress which means it can easily lead to chronic stress conditions if it goes into overdrive too often 😮‍💨

We also have the Parasympathetic Nervous System, or our “Rest and Digest” state, which activates when in a relaxed state, feeling calm & sleeping well 😌

This is what we like to achieve during a massage, because it means your body has moved into a state of ease allowing it to rest, repair & restore 💆‍♀️

So next time your tummy is a rumblin’ during your massage, don’t apologise, we love it! Your body is serving you well 😃
