Welcome, Dr Ian Marais!
Dr Marais graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1996 and completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australian college of GPs in 2026. He has been practising with our sister practice at Baldivis and we are pleased to welcome him to our centre!
Dr Marais is a friendly and experienced specialist GP with particular interests in:
• Mental health and psychiatry
• Seniors health services
In addition to English, he speaks Afrikaans.

Breast cancer is Australia's second most commonly diagnosed cancer, with over 20,000 Australians diagnosed this year. Devastatingly, each year, over 3,200 Australians will die from breast cancer. That’s someone’s mother, sister, friend or family member whose life has been tragically cut short because of the disease.

That’s why October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness and funds for much-needed research into breast cancer. Breast screening is crucial for early detection.

September is Women’s Health Week! One of the best resources to improve your health is seeing a GP regularly. They can conduct regular health assessments, which are critical for prevention and early detection, offer guidance on managing conditions like endometriosis and menopause and provide added mental health support services.

This year Daffodil Day celebrates 40 years of growing hope for people affected by cancer. When Daffodil Day first took roots in 1986, the 5-years cancer survival was approximately 46%.
