This is something that has been in discussion this week in our house. Our Autistic babies don't see the "grey area" or how to deliver an answer without truth, even if it hurts a person.
This weekend, we are grateful for speaking the truth and knowing our family will unpack it with us if it looks a little messy.

NDIS support could have saved Jack.

Jack Westren was just 25.
He lived with a brain injury since he was eight years old.
He did everything right — but the system didn’t.

His mother begged the NDIS for extra support so Jack wouldn’t be left alone.

Those pleas were ignored.

Jack was waiting for his brother outside Shellharbour Train Station when he was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of teenagers.

His stepfather said it best:

“If he had that support in place, he would have at least had a carer with him.”

The NDIS is supposed to protect people like Jack — not fail them.
This isn’t just a story about violence.
It’s about neglect, bureaucracy, and a young man who should still be alive today.

We owe Jack — and every family who’s been ignored — more than thoughts and prayers.
We owe them change. ⚖️

There is hope for our future, we just need to model this approach for the next generation to observe and normalise. It's truly not a difficult task to create a revolution, we just have to come together and agree that the future needs to look brighter- and it begins with an act of kindness, a confidence in knowing kindness will guide the action in all the right ways and creating a moment that models this kind choice for the community to observe and normalise. Michael is AWESOME.

Initially appearing on ABCs ‘Love on the Spectrum’, Michael Theo has built himself a diverse career. 🙌🏼

'My true purpose is being an actor and spreading awareness of my lived experience on the spectrum.'

'Working as an autism consultant allows me to share my story so that other people on the spectrum can accomplish their dreams and goals,' he says.

'If you're going to do something you want to do but you feel too nervous, just take it step by step.'

In addition to his television appearances, Michael is a public speaker, podcast host, voiceover artist, advocate and consultant.
