Flu viruses change every year because the flu virus has a unique ability to change its surface structure.

This means that even if you had the flu or an immunisation one year, your body’s immune system might not be able to fight the changed version of the virus that will be circulating the following year.

Each year, a new vaccine is developed and is available for those who wish to be immunised.

The yearly seasonal flu vaccine generally includes protection against up to four strains of influenza viruses.

Your local pharmacist can issue an Absence from Work Certificate for up to two day’s work for:
💙 Personal leave – if you are unable to work due to injury or personal illness
💙 Carer’s leave – if you are required to look after someone who is unwell

Sharing a life-saving addition to our pharmacies.

A sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time.

Community Care Chemist is pleased to share that all our pharmacies now have a defibrillator (AED) installed and accessible for use in a cardiac emergency.

A defibrillator or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that detects life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms and delivers an electrical shock if needed.

More than 26,000 people have a cardiac arrest out of hospital every year in Australia, and only about 10% of these people survive.*

But acting quickly can help save lives. If a bystander uses a defibrillator in addition to CPR, the survival rate can increase to 60-70%.*

We're pleased to make this life saving equipment available to the local communities where we operate.

Changes to funding from the National Immunisation Program means more Australians are now eligible for a free RSV vaccination.

Who is now eligible for a free RSV vaccination under the National Immunisation Program?

➡️People aged 75 and over
➡️Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 and over
➡️Pregnant women at 28–36 weeks pregnancy to protect their baby from birth.

Your Community Care Chemist pharmacist immuniser can vaccinate all the above groups against RSV.

Vaccination services are available at all our pharmacies year-round and are conducted in the privacy of our consulting rooms in-store.
