Please join me welcoming Juliette Kajt to the Wonderkind & Co Therapeutic Community.

Juliette made the decision to relocated to Australia from Israel in 2024 with her husband and two children. After 20+ years of experience working as a Social Worker across the Health, Mental Health, Family Violence, AOD, Humanitarian Missions, provided Clinical Education for the United Nations across Europe, treated First Responders and Emergency Services in war-torn areas, she also built up her own Private Practice and lead both National and International trauma response and crisis management approaches. This was a difficult decision to make and a logistical challenge to navigate. After spending some down time in southeast Asia Juliette and her family have settled in Geelong and are very much enjoying their new life on the Surf Coast.

Juliette is an accredited social worker and psychotherapist with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. While she specialises in trauma recovery and anxiety support for adults, natural disaster and crisis management, Juliette also supports children and young people. Juliette integrates evidence based approaches such as CBT, EMDR, Brainspotting and ACT, adapting each method to meet her clients presenting and assessed needs. After working for a local organisation for the past year, as well as being called in to support the trauma response for the Bondi Shooting, Juliette is ready to step back into Private Practice. Her approach focuses on being client centred, where she aims to meet each person where they are, focuses on growth, resilience and personal strength. Juliette is known for her warm, functional and clear way of working, helping her clients to feel safe, understood and supported as they recover.

Referral pathways are now open, Juliette is based at Ariston House on Monday & Tuesdays and progressing towards Wednesdays, and open for Telehealth on others days. For further information please contact Juliette directly on [email protected]

Another term of Beam Girls Group has kicked off at one of our favourite local Primary Schools! I was joined by 8 delightful students, Ms Cait their grade two teacher and our amazing Deakin final year Social Work Students on placement at Wonderkind & Co Amelie & Jennifer ! Beam is an early intervention small group program designed to enhance emotional awareness and regulation, understanding how, why and what it means to be an up-stander, strategies to navigate challenging peer dynamics and how to integrate these learnings into the play ground in real time. This program is also being delivered one a 1:1 basis for 3 students who would have found the small group setting over stimulating. These 2 programs are running parallel to the in-house School Social Stencil program being delivered to the remaining students in this year level to really target the social & emotional challenges that present in grade 4, when some significant emotional, social and physical developmental changes occur! What a joy and privilege it is to be able to empower young girls in this way at this age!! This program was developed on the back of identifying significant bullying, social exclusion and failure to support (by other peers, parents & teachers in a way that had impact) trends that consistently showed up in teen girls who were presenting with complex PTSD, self-harm, school refusal etc as a result of significant peer related challenges that commence in and around grade 4! The goal was to get in earlier, front load student, teachers and parents around what to look out for and how to navigate to reduce the prevalence in later years and reduce the ripples of impact in their teen years!

Yesterday morning I had the delight of attending the Geelong Chambers of Commence June Connect where we heard the CEO of the Geelong Community Foundation, Amy Waters talk about the impact in the region in particular around higher rates of Domestic Abuse and Unemployment, which are close to 20% higher than the state average in some areas of our region. We then listened to the learning from Matt, Lauren, Amy and Renee around their motivations, hopes, approaches and individual and organisational benefits of getting involved and supporting the Geelong Community Foundation. Here at Wonderkind & Co we became founding members and made a commitment to support the Geelong Women’s Impact Collective a few months ago. This yearly investment was made with the hope and drive that real power and change can be generated within the region from women supporting women, by understanding and collectively investing in areas that will systemically reduce harm and inequality and promote safety and opportunity within our local region.
