A reshare for those who need to hear. I will always feel this way, I hope you do too 💜
What brings you joy?
As long as I can remember I've had no time to waste. Life has always been a celebration, and I've lived every minute as though it was my last.
When I was 9 I was in a severe car accident that had me facing my own mortality at a very tender age. At 11, I had a surgical procedure that went wrong and almost died. In recovery at the Children's Hospital a boy in the room next to me did die, and it was a stark reality that completely changed my perception forever.
There was never a moment to process emotions that rose from these experiences as when you're a child the whole focus is just to get on with things, but as we grow older we reflect and it helps us to understand the way we are and why we do the things we do.
I have always tended to draw people close to me that have had similar experiences early in life. Those who see joy and blessings in every minute of every day, those who don't have time for petty things, that love to their full capacity, and have open doors and open arms for others in need, who understand that joy is found not only in each minute, but also every second, and also understand that suffering is real, and have a natural ability to hold space for others, with complete non-judgement and love.
And it's with this understanding that we know we are all partners in this human experience. We all seek to find equilibrium in the highs and the lows. We all lose, and we all gain. And we find peace in what brings us joy. Can you own your peace? Can you own your joy? Can you make your life a celebration? Take a second and give yourself that, right now! Breathe it in. Do you feel it? 💚
