For me, preparing for conception began with coming back to foundations of health, which I highlight in these slides ✨
I also want to share openly that, over the year before actively trying to conceive, after having done specific blood tests, I was told a few times that my ovarian reserve was considered low for my age. Hearing that initially felt confronting and while I absolutely took that information seriously, I chose not to let it create fear in my body or define the outcome.
Instead, it deepened my commitment to nourishing my health and trusting in when it felt ready, safe and the timing was aligned, it would happen.
I want to preface this by saying fertility journeys can look vastly different. For many women (and couples), it’s not straightforward at all. Chronic conditions, hormone imbalances, endometriosis, PCOS, thyroid health issues, male factor infertility and so many other variables can make it complex and emotionally heavy🫶🏽.
I’m not a fertility specialist and this post isn’t claiming “do these 5 things and you’ll conceive.” It’s merely highlighting the emphasis I placed on many of the pillars of health, alongside specific nutrients and supplements that would help improve egg and s***m quality, increasing my chances of a healthy conception.
What I also believe, is that while every woman is different, many foundational pillars of health that support conception remain the same and they are all crucial.
These foundations create the internal environment that allows the body to feel safe, nourished and supported.
For me that meant:
• Eating enough and balancing blood sugar
• Supporting my nervous system daily
• Preparing with key preconception nutrients
• Reducing overall toxin load where I could
• Ensuring my partner supported his fertility health too
Conception is shared responsibility. S***m health matters just as much. If you’re navigating a more complex fertility journey, these foundations still matter, they may simply just sit alongside deeper investigation and individualised care.
Your body is always communicating to you and sometimes coming back to the basics is more powerful than we realise. 🌿🤎
