If she’s okay.
Not just “Are you okay?” in passing.
Really ask.
Take a few minutes to be with her.
Listen if she wants to talk.
Sit with whatever comes up without needing to fix it or make it better.
Remind her that what happened to her wasn’t her fault.
And if she carries shame — because sometimes, even when we know it wasn’t our fault, shame still finds a way to settle inside us — remind her that she has nothing to be ashamed of.
Remind her of what you see in her.
Her strength.
Her courage.
Her kindness.
Her laughter.
Her playfulness.
The woman she was before someone made her question herself.
Sometimes, after leaving, people assume that because she is out, she must be okay.
But leaving is not always the end of the story.
Sometimes it is the beginning of a very quiet and lonely journey back to herself.
So if you know someone like this, please, I ask of you, just take two minutes today.
Send the message.
Make the call.
Sit beside her.
Ask her how she really is.
You may never know just how much your words mean to her. 🤍
