Something exciting arrived today… 📦

After months of researching, designing, testing and refining, my School Day Discussion Cards are finally here.

These cards were created to help children share what really happened during their school day, beyond the usual “It was fine” or “I don’t know”.

Whether you’re a teacher or professional supporting children, I can’t wait to start sharing more about how they can open up meaningful conversations.

This is just the beginning. 💛

A bridge isn’t just a bridge.

The fascinating part?

What matters isn’t really the object itself. It’s what that object becomes in the child’s world.

As children create miniature worlds, they’re organising ideas, planning, problem-solving, remembering characters and building stories.

And when another person joins the play, there’s another layer:
👂 listening to their ideas,
👥 sharing control,
📖 adapting the story
🙇‍♂️ and managing their feelings

That’s a lot happening in what can look like “just play.”

💭 I wonder what story you see when you look at this scene?

Over the past few weeks I’ve been creating something a little different.

Not a brochure.
Not a list of services.

A guide that shares the heart of Play in Mind and the philosophy that shapes the way I support children and families.

If you’ve ever wondered what Play in Mind is really about, I’d love to invite you to take a look.

Play Therapy gives children a safe, supportive space to express themselves, build confidence, strengthen emotional regulation and make sense of big feelings through play.
At Play in Mind, sessions are child-centred, developmentally informed and tailored to each child’s needs.

Sometimes parents don’t need one more strategy.

They are looking for someone to help make sense of what they are already noticing.

The meltdowns.
The shutdowns.
The clinginess.
The school refusal.
The moments where their child seems to be saying, “I can’t do this,” without having the words.

Most parents know their child deeply.

Support is not about blame.
It is about slowing things down enough to understand what behaviour may be communicating, what the child may be needing, and how the parent-child relationship can feel safer, stronger, and more connected.

Good parents still get overwhelmed.
Good parents still need support.
Good parents still need someone beside them.

Children don’t need perfect parents.
They need supported adults who can keep coming back to connection.

International Day of Play | 11 June

Protect play, protect childhood.

This is the United Nations focus for International Day of Play 2026.

Play is part of childhood.

Under Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, every child has the right to rest, leisure, play, recreation, and participation in cultural and creative life.

When we protect play, we protect children’s time to move, imagine, connect, create, recover, explore, and make sense of their world.

09/06/2026

For children, play is one of the most natural ways they explore the world, express feelings, practise relationships, solve problems, build confidence and try out new ways of responding.

In the playroom, what may look simple from the outside can actually be deeply meaningful.

A child may be making sense of big feelings.
Practising flexibility.
Testing out control and choice.
Learning how to connect.
Finding their voice without needing all the words.

At Play in Mind, play is respected as important developmental work.
