🎉 We always love having a reason to celebrate! 🎉

Today, we’re wishing our wonderful Business Manager, Jill, a very happy birthday! 🥳

While much of Jill’s work happens behind the scenes, the care she brings to New Frontiers Therapy is felt in so many ways. We absolutely treasure the thought and heart she puts into building relationships, supporting the people we work with and genuinely caring about our community.

Jill is always making sure people come first, feel valued and are treated with kindness and care.

Thank you for everything you do, Jill. We’re very lucky to have you and you’re an absolute superstar! 🌟

Happy Birthday, Jill! 🎂🎈

💊 Do you or someone you care for struggle to swallow tablets?

Many people think they simply have to "deal with it," but difficulty swallowing medication can often be managed with the right assessment and strategies.

One option that may be appropriate is Gloup, a medication lubricant designed to help tablets and capsules move more comfortably through the throat.

However, it's important to remember that it's not suitable for everyone. If you're experiencing difficulty swallowing medication, a speech pathology assessment can help determine:
✔️ Why swallowing is difficult
✔️ Whether Gloup is appropriate and safe for you
✔️ What other strategies or supports may be more suitable

At New Frontiers Therapy, we regularly assess swallowing difficulties and keep Gloup in stock. If we determine it's appropriate during your assessment, you can take some home straight away to trial.

A one-hour speech pathology session is only the beginning. I believe some of the greatest impact comes when recommendations are embraced by the professionals who support our clients every day.

Thank you to the amazing team at Gympie Support Services for your commitment to truly collaborative, person-centred care. Your understanding of the people and families you support, combined with the expertise of the wider healthcare team, helps bring recommendations to life in everyday care.

Together, we're helping people stay connected to the conversations, relationships, and everyday moments (like sharing a meal more comfortably with family) that matter most.

Confidence doesn’t have to be big or loud.

Sometimes it looks like:
🔸 speaking up in a conversation
🔸 enjoying a meal again
🔸 feeling more in control

Sometimes the changes are subtle.

You might notice things like:

• Taking longer to eat
• Coughing or throat clearing during or after eating or drinking (including with saliva)
• Avoiding certain foods
• Finding tablets harder to swallow
• Changes in saliva management (e.g., drooling, needing to swallow more often)

Swallowing is something we do all day, not just at mealtimes. Small changes can impact comfort, safety, and confidence.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to swallowing changes. The most important step is understanding what’s happening and why, so decisions can be made that are thoughtful, informed, and tailored to the person.

If you’ve noticed these changes, it may be worth exploring support to find a way forward that honours your needs, preferences, and daily life.

Today is World Voice Day.

Our voices are a big part of how we connect with the people around us.

Sometimes voice changes can happen over time or alongside neurological conditions. They can be subtle, but still impact how easily someone is heard and understood.

When voice changes occur, it can feel isolating and make social situations more demanding.

With the right support, and a focus on what voice means for each individual, communication can feel more comfortable and confident. Speech pathology can support you to find a path forward that feels right for you.

Today is World Voice Day and this year’s theme is 'Caring for our voices.' For speech pathologists, this includes working with people across a wide range of voice and communication needs.

To mark the day, we’ve pulled together a range of resources to support your practice and learning.

From clinical insights to practical tools, there’s something to assist your work, whatever your preferred way of learning.

It often starts with a conversation.

Taking the time to get to know you, what matters to you, and any changes you’ve noticed.

There’s no rush. No pressure. Just a space to be heard.

That’s where good care begins.
