Mad in America affiliate, Mad in Norway, is hosting an international film festival from September 24-26 in Lillehammer, Norway. Each week, we will feature a film. This week is Diagnonsense. DIAGNONSENSE is a self-reflective documentary by director Ane-Martha Tamnes Hansgård, based on her experiences of being diagnosed with a number of mental disorders over a period of fifteen years—a process that began when she was barely a teenager. It is a fragmented and powerful story about growing up in a psychiatric system that defines who you are. By using extensive private archives the film questions the benefits and dangers of diagnoses. It shows the essence of living beyond labels, in an honest, humorous, and touching narrative that is relatable to us all. https://www.madinamerica.com/2026/07/mad-in-norway-international-film-festival-film-review-diagnonsense/

People experiencing mental health emergencies will be met by healthcare workers as opposed to police.

The change comes under a new model being rolled out by the state government, called the Virtual Mental Health Hub.

Under the model, the virtual team will advise Triple Zero (000) staff on whether a mental health clinician should attend a call for help, instead of police.
