This week we had the pleasure of having Jorwil from Macintyre High School join us at Watkins Dental for work experience — and we were so impressed by her enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn throughout the week 🦷✨

Jorwil shared that she chose Watkins Dental because she wanted to explore the dental and healthcare field and gain a better understanding of what a future career in this industry could look like. Over the week, she learned about sterilisation processes, infection control, the organisation that happens behind the scenes, and the many instruments and technologies used in modern dentistry and orthodontics.

Some of her favourite experiences included:
• Working in the lab and seeing how retainers and models are made
• Making her own model
• Observing procedures, including an extraction
• Learning about the cleaning and sterilisation process after every appointment
• Seeing how professional and supportive the team is within the clinic

Jorwil said her time at Watkins Dental increased her interest in dentistry and orthodontics and helped her discover so much more about the field. 🩵

About the role:
• Approximately 4 days per week
• Assisting our dentists and team in delivering high-quality patient care
• Working in a positive, team-focused environment

• Experience preferred, but not essential (training provided)
• A genuine passion for patient care
• Strong communication skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
• Someone who is thorough, organised, and detail-oriented

At the same time, we value commitment, accountability, and taking pride in your work — strong work ethic and professionalism are essential.

Pay & Conditions:

At the same time, we’re excited to officially welcome Matilda, who completed work experience with us and is now starting as a Dental Assistant through the School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships (SBAT) program.
