What would 5 extra hours a week actually give you?

Not five more hours to squeeze more work in.

Five hours back.

Time to read with your students.
Go to the gym.
Have a Sunday that actually feels like a Sunday.
Or have the headspace to really notice the child in your classroom who needs you.

Teachers don’t need another lesson in resilience.

They need the time and capacity to do what only teachers can do.

So I’m curious 👇

If I handed you 5 extra hours every week, what would you do with them?

Have you ever caught yourself thinking…

“Maybe I’m just not organised enough.”
“Maybe I need to manage my time better.”
“Maybe I’m just not cut out for this anymore.”

I’ve spoken with teachers who are working before school, after school, at night and on weekends… and they’re still wondering if they’re doing enough.

Here’s what I want you to know.

It’s not because you don’t care.
It’s not because you’re not capable.
And it’s certainly not because you’re not a good teacher.

When dedicated, hardworking teachers all start feeling the same way, maybe the problem isn’t the teachers.

Maybe it’s the expectations we’ve quietly accepted as “normal.”

I believe great teaching isn’t about squeezing more into your day. It’s about creating the time and space to focus on what matters most. Your students.

I’m curious…

What’s stealing the most time from your week at the moment?

Today’s NAPLAN headlines will spark the usual conversations.

Australian students need to do better.
Schools need to improve.
Teachers need to lift results.

But here’s the question nobody seems to ask…

When exactly are teachers supposed to do all of that?

Every teacher I speak to wants their students reading, writing and achieving at higher levels.

They’re not lacking passion.
They’re lacking time.

Time that’s swallowed by paperwork.
Time that’s lost to admin.
Time spent documenting instead of teaching.
Time spent managing behaviour instead of small-group intervention.

If Australia is serious about lifting NAPLAN results, we can’t just ask teachers to work harder.

We have to give them the time and support to teach.

Because the solution isn’t more pressure.

It’s more teaching.

I don’t think teachers have a resilience problem.
I think they have a time problem.

Over the past few weeks, teachers have told me things like:

• I spend more time documenting behaviour than changing it.
• The paperwork is taking over.
• I just want more time with my students.

The moments that change a child’s life don’t happen while we’re filling in forms.
They happen in conversations.
In noticing.
In listening.
In simply being present.

That’s the future I’m working towards.
If someone gave you five extra hours back this week…
What would you spend them on?

Sometimes teachers never get to see the ending of the story.

Last night we watched Brad Cox perform, with Kesha opening the show. Both grew up here in Jindabyne.

As I looked around the crowd, I realised it was filled with proud parents, friends… and teachers.

Teachers who once taught these kids.

It reminded me why I believe every child deserves to be deeply known.

Years later, the quiet kid, the cheeky kid, the determined kid, or the one who struggled to find their place can grow into someone doing extraordinary things.

The greatest privilege of teaching isn’t the curriculum.

It’s being one of the people who helps shape a young person’s story.

Congratulations, Brad and Kesha. Your hometown is so proud of you.

And thank you to every teacher who helped them along the way. ❤️

A teacher said something to me this week that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

It wasn’t dramatic.
It wasn’t shocking.

It was just… honest.

And I think a lot of teachers will quietly recognise themselves in it.

This is exactly why I started The Thriving Teacher Hub.

Not because teachers need to work harder.
Not because they need another strategy.

Because they deserve their time back.

Have a listen and let me know…

What’s something you’ve heard in a staffroom recently that has stayed with you?

❤️ Trish

Today is the day.

After months of thinking, learning, questioning, building, and refining… I’m so excited to finally introduce you to Time To Teach Again.

I created this because I know what it’s like to love teaching but feel like it’s taking over your life.

To leave school exhausted.

To spend evenings and weekends catching up.

To wonder if this is really what teaching is supposed to be.

I don’t believe it has to be that way.

I believe teachers deserve to leave work knowing they’ve done enough.

To be present with their families.

To have the time and energy to truly know the children in front of them.

That’s why I created Time To Teach Again.

This is for the teacher who loves teaching… but misses their own life.

If you’ve been following along over the last few weeks and thinking, “This sounds like exactly what I need,” I’d love to invite you to be one of my Founding Teachers.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me, challenged me, and believed in this vision.

This is just the beginning.

The best conversations often happen when you finally slow down.

Yesterday, sitting on this chairlift, I found myself thinking about why I started all of this.

Not because teachers need to work harder.
Not because they need another strategy.
Not because they need one more thing on their plate.

Because I believe teachers deserve their lives back.

Time to be present with their families.
Time to know the children in front of them.
Time to remember why they became teachers in the first place.

Tomorrow, I finally get to share what I’ve been building.

I can’t wait 🫶.
See you tomorrow.

I’ve been quietly working on something that’s incredibly close to my heart.

Not because teachers need to work harder.

But because I believe they deserve to work smarter.

For too long we’ve accepted that exhaustion is ‘just part of the job.’

I don’t believe it has to be.

Sunday, I’ll finally share what I’ve been building.

I can’t wait to show you!
