(1)

It is the flexible column that supports the body and it encases the nerves of the spinal cord that carry messages between the brain and the body. Those nerves control all your voluntary movements, as well as automatic functions such as circulation and digestion. If vertebral joints malfunction, they can cause pressure or irritation of the adjacent spinal nerves leading to muscle spasms, organ dysf

unction and pain. Your whole body is dependent on having a healthy spine! Chiropractors specialise in detecting and correcting spinal misalignments, known as subluxations, with gentle positioning and hand-delivered adjustments. Jaw pain isn't always just a jaw problem. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ), neck, surrounding muscles, and posture all work closely together, which means dysfunction in one area may contribute to symptoms elsewhere.

TMJ-related problems can cause jaw pain or tenderness, clicking and popping, difficulty opening the mouth, headaches, facial discomfort, and tension through the neck and shoulders. Clenching or grinding your teeth, stress, posture, previous injuries, and muscle tension may all contribute.

At Lakeside Chiropractic in Joondalup, different chiropractic modalities may be used depending on your symptoms and individual needs. These can include gentle chiropractic adjustments and joint mobilisation to improve movement, along with soft tissue techniques, dry needling, stretching, and rehabilitation exercises to address surrounding muscle tension and function.

Rather than focusing on the jaw alone, we assess the relationship between your head, neck, jaw, posture, and movement to determine what may be contributing to your symptoms.

Experiencing ongoing jaw pain, headaches, neck tension, or clicking around your TMJ? Our chiropractors can assess your symptoms and discuss which treatment options may be suitable for you.

Ever wondered, β€œWhy does my back crack when I stretch?”

Back cracking or popping is common and can happen when you stretch, twist, stand up, or change position. One reason for the sound is a rapid change in pressure inside a joint, which can cause dissolved gases within the joint fluid to form or shift β€” a process known as cavitation.

Occasional cracking that isn't painful is generally not considered a problem on its own. However, if your back frequently cracks alongside pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, or the constant feeling that you β€œneed” to crack it, there may be other factors contributing to your symptoms.

Muscle tension, restricted joint movement, posture, repetitive activities, and prolonged sitting can all influence how your back feels and moves.

At Lakeside Chiropractic in Joondalup, we assess spinal movement, joint function, posture, and muscle tension to help determine what may be contributing to your symptoms. Where appropriate, chiropractic care may help improve joint mobility and support more comfortable movement.

If your back cracking is painful or accompanied by ongoing stiffness or discomfort, consider having it properly assessed rather than repeatedly trying to crack it yourself.

Range of motion (ROM) refers to how far and freely a joint can move in different directions. Good joint mobility is important for comfortable everyday movement, exercise, work and maintaining overall physical function.

Reduced range of motion can develop for many reasons, including muscle tension, joint stiffness, injury, repetitive movements, prolonged sitting, poor posture or changes that occur as we age. Depending on the area affected, you may notice difficulty turning your neck, reaching overhead, bending your back or moving as freely as you normally would.

Chiropractic adjustments use controlled techniques to address restricted joints and may help improve joint mobility and reduce stiffness. Chiropractic care may also be combined with stretching, mobility exercises, soft tissue techniques and rehabilitation to help maintain improvements in movement.

At Lakeside Chiropractic in Joondalup, we assess your joint movement, posture, muscle tension and individual symptoms before recommending a personalised approach to care.

Feeling stiff or noticing that you can't move as freely as you used to? Our chiropractors can assess what may be contributing to your restricted range of motion and discuss suitable treatment options.

Hip and lower back pain are common complaints during pregnancy. As your baby grows, your centre of gravity shifts and your body continually adapts to changes in posture, weight distribution and pelvic mechanics.

Pregnancy hormones also increase ligament flexibility, while the additional physical load can place greater stress on the lower back, hips and pelvis. For some women, this can result in aching, stiffness, pelvic discomfort or difficulty with everyday movements such as walking, sleeping, sitting or changing positions.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy focuses on supporting comfortable movement and managing musculoskeletal discomfort. Gentle chiropractic techniques may be used alongside soft tissue therapy, mobility exercises and postural advice, depending on your individual needs and stage of pregnancy.

At Lakeside Chiropractic in Joondalup, care is tailored to each patient. We assess your posture, spinal and pelvic movement, muscle tension and symptoms before recommending an appropriate approach.

Experiencing hip or lower back pain during pregnancy? Our team is here to help you explore whether chiropractic care may be suitable for you.

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a condition caused by compression of the nerves or blood vessels that travel from the neck into the arm. It often results in symptoms such as neck pain, shoulder discomfort, numbness, tingling, weakness, or heaviness in the arm and hand. Many people notice their symptoms worsen with repetitive overhead activities, prolonged sitting, or poor posture.

Common causes of TOS include muscle tightness, poor posture, repetitive movements, previous injuries, or anatomical variations that reduce the space where the nerves and blood vessels pass. Because its symptoms can mimic other conditions such as cervical radiculopathy or carpal tunnel syndrome, a thorough assessment is essential for an accurate diagnosis.

At Lakeside Chiropractic, we assess your posture, spinal mobility, muscle tension, and joint function to identify factors contributing to thoracic outlet syndrome. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, postural advice, and rehabilitation exercises to improve movement, reduce muscle tension, and support long-term recovery.

If you're experiencing persistent neck pain, shoulder pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arm or hand, chiropractic care may help you move more comfortably and improve your quality of life.

Chiropractic maintenance care is ongoing care provided after the initial stage of treatment, once pain and symptoms have improved. Rather than focusing only on short-term relief, it aims to support spinal movement, joint mobility, posture, and overall function over the longer term.

Everyday activities such as prolonged sitting, physical work, repetitive movements, lifting, exercise, and poor posture can gradually place stress on the spine and surrounding muscles. For some people, this can lead to recurring stiffness, neck pain, back pain, headaches, or reduced mobility.

Maintenance care may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, dry needling, rehabilitation exercises, mobility work, and postural advice. The frequency is personalised and may vary depending on your lifestyle, previous injuries, work demands, symptoms, and health goals.

At Lakeside Chiropractic, we tailor care to each patient rather than using a one-size-fits-all schedule. Maintenance care is not about creating dependence on treatmentβ€”it is about helping manage recurring mechanical stress and supporting long-term spinal health.

Daily headaches in teenagers can be concerning for both parents and young people. While headaches are common, experiencing them every day is not something that should simply be accepted as normal. Poor posture, prolonged screen use, heavy school bags, muscle tension, stress, dehydration, lack of sleep, and certain medical conditions can all contribute to recurring headaches.

At Lakeside Chiropractic, we assess posture, spinal movement, muscle tension, and joint function to determine whether musculoskeletal factors may be contributing to your child's symptoms. Chiropractic care aims to improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and support healthy movement, which may help reduce headaches associated with neck and postural dysfunction.

If headaches are persistent, severe, associated with fever, vomiting, vision changes, dizziness, weakness, or have developed suddenly, it's important to seek prompt medical assessment to rule out underlying medical causes.

If your teenager is experiencing frequent headaches, neck pain, or poor posture, our team can perform a thorough assessment and discuss whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for their individual needs.

A disc herniation, sometimes called a slipped disc or bulging disc, happens when part of a spinal disc pushes outward and places pressure or irritation on nearby nerves. This can lead to lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica, arm pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or restricted movement.

Chiropractic care for disc herniation focuses on improving spinal function, reducing joint restriction, and relieving pressure around irritated tissues. Depending on your symptoms, care may include gentle chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, mobility work, posture advice, and exercises to support long-term recovery.

At Lakeside Chiropractic, we assess your movement, nerve symptoms, posture, and spinal function to determine whether chiropractic care is suitable for your condition. If needed, we may also refer for imaging or work alongside other healthcare providers.

If you’re dealing with disc-related pain, sciatica, numbness, or restricted movement, chiropractic care may help support your recovery and improve comfort.

Bulk billed X-rays may be available

At Lakeside Chiropractic, your chiropractor will first assess your spine, movement, and symptoms.

If imaging is clinically needed, we may refer eligible patients for bulk billed spinal X-rays through a local imaging provider. X-rays are not needed for everyone, so your chiropractor will discuss whether they are suitable for your case.
