Helping women be strong through every sesson - for a lifetime of athleticism. Qualified Nutritionist, Sports Scientist, Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor. BALANCE FITNESS AND NUTRITION
Life is all about balance, and as we all know, this is often the hardest thing to achieve. I am a big believer in nourishing your mind, body and soul through physical activity and eating a varied diet full

of macro and micro nutrients to ensure optimal health. Food is fuel and it literally fuels our mind and body; the connection is strong. Wellness starts from within, and in order to be happy with the world, you need to first be happy with yourself. Physical activity has so many amazing rewards for our physical and mental wellbeing - I want to help my clients see and feel these benefits and help them understand how to achieve a healthy, active, balanced lifestyle. I love keeping physically active, which is probably a good thing given my other love - food! I am constantly trying to create ‘healthy’ or ‘raw’ versions of my favorite treats and substituting ingredients for healthier options. Sometimes they are big hit... and sometimes not so much. Finding the perfect balance is never easy, and is something that constantly needs to be worked at and adjusted, depending on what life throws your way. I have always lived by this - life is too short to miss out on the little things, and also too short to overindulge and not have the energy and positivity to get the quality out of life. Healthy, active living need not be a hindrance, but a habit. I am a strong believer in self motivation and setting both short and long term goals – that just like achieving balance, need to continually reviewed and re-adjusted. I will there to coach you through your journey to finding that balance and becoming a stronger, healthier version of yourself; but you need to ask yourself why you want to change, set goals and ensure you have the self-motivation to achieve these. It will waiver at times - but that is why I am here, to remind you of why you started. If you are looking to improve your fitness, health and nutrition, contact me today to help you on your way to strive for balance.

• PD - BUT AS THE PATIENT •

Yesterday I got to be on the other side of professional development - not as the educator, but as the patient.
My amazing women’s health physio at Pilbara Therapy Services was delivering a PD session to the musculoskeletal and wider team on abdominal separation (diastasis recti), and asked if I’d be happy to be a case study.

As a mum of three, lifelong athlete, and someone who’s had an interesting journey with diastasis myself, I was more than happy to help.

I know how powerful bringing real people and real stories into learning can be.

It was also a great reminder that no matter how experienced we are, there’s always more to learn. Seeing a whole team invest in professional development to better support women was pretty special.

It’s one of the reasons I love teaching in this space too. Functional Fitness for Pregnancy & Postpartum™ course isn’t just for fitness professionals, I’ve had physiotherapists, nurses, midwives and other health professionals complete it as well!

The more we learn, collaborate, and know our scope across professions, the better the outcomes for the women we support.

• GRWM - THE HONEST VERSION •

We all know what it looks like in theory and boy do we see how perfect it can look on socials.

I’m here to remind you that it’s okay if you’re not nailing it in practice. Done is better than none!

Here’s to the every day athlete, the women who are choosing to ignore the dirty dishes, mess on the bench, the nagging jobs, juggling work, kids and the likes.

The ones who are tired, have a never ending to do list, and squeezing it in and getting it done anyway.

You’re the real MVP’s.

*I forgot to add that I always do this on a solid, uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep 😜

• WHICH IS BETTER? •

For achieving maximal results, particularly when it comes to pelvic floor strength & functionality?

I like to use the following example in my Functional Fitness for Pregnancy & Postpartum™️course…

🤷🏼‍♀️What would we do if our client had a goal of wanting to get bigger or stronger biceps?

✅ Sure, you’d add in isolated exercises such as bicep curls, but on it’s own that wouldn’t be enough.

✅✅A GREAT program would also incorporate a mix of compound exercises. Global movements like bench presses, pull ups, push ups.

The same goes for the pelvic floor.

Isolated pelvic floor exercises or kegels are great & absolutely play their part, but we need to get our clients moving in a way that mimics mum life or their desired training styles for maximal results & confidence.

🙌🏽The pelvic floor needs to be able to tolerate load and stress that running after a toddler, deadlifting the washing basket off the floor or farmer carrying the shopping inside places on it.

So a GREAT pelvic floor program & Trainer will incorporate a mix of both isolated PF exercise but functional movements such as:
➡️Squats
➡️Wall sits
➡️Deadlifts
➡️Lunges
➡️Bridges
➡️Push ups
*And appropriate modifications of these.

Focusing on adding in these basic movement patterns to help women build to the right level at the right time 💕

• NOT MY IDEA OF FUN •

But so essential!

4 years on from my last women’s health Physio appointment, it was time to suss out where I was at.
Especially with some pretty big athletic goals on my radar.

To be honest I’ve been putting it off for a long time. Not before I’ve been symptomatic - quite the opposite. But I was scared about how it might all be going.

The outcome? Applying my LIFT Framework and the foundations of Functional Fitness for Pregnancy & Postpartum™️ - work!!

Have you ever seen a Women’s Health Physio or Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist?
When is the last time you’ve seen one?

This is your sign 🪧- don’t wait symptoms, pain or pressure to get interested. Be proactive, to help ensure you can stay Strong Through Every Season 💪🏽

• THE SAME 24 HOURS •

⬆️ Is one of the most unhelpful sayings in fitness.

We all have 24 hours.

We don’t all have the same capacity.

Consistency over comparison 🩵

• WOMEN AREN’T ‘SLACKING OFF’ •

Do you have female clients or members, particularly mums and those who are post menopausal?

KNOW THIS…
🔊 Women who take a lower impact option, slow down the tempo, reduce the load, or do a completely different exercise, aren’t necessarily ‘slacking off’ or ‘taking it easy’

👉🏼They are doing it because their body is telling them, or they know, that the programmed exercise isn’t right for them.

👉🏼They know a better option, (and hopefully one you’ve offered!) that can help them manage their symptoms.

👉🏼Maybe they haven’t eaten, slept or recovered well, are mentally depleted, had a massive day and simply showing up to move.

✋🏼Don’t shame or pressure them to ‘step it up’, ‘add some more load’, or ‘work harder’.

⬆️ this will only have them feeling EMBARRASSED, not EMPOWERED, with a high chance of not coming back 😔

ALL women should feel empowered (and educated!) when it comes to exercising pre and post children. *Mums at ANY stage of motherhood, because motherhood is forever.
