To our Rouse Hill families: what's keeping your household busy on weekends right now? Footy finals, netball, soccer, cricket nets starting back up? ๐Ÿ‰โšฝ๐Ÿ

This time of year our clinic sees a real spike in junior sport injuries, mostly ankle rolls, knee tweaks and the classic "it's fine, I can keep playing" that every parent has heard at least once from the sideline. Plenty of parents pick up their own niggle chasing a ball at training or filling in for a team short on numbers, too.

We'd genuinely love to hear what sports your family is juggling this season, and how many of you are running between two or three different clubs on a Saturday. Drop a comment and let us know.

And if there's a niggle in your house that's been quietly "managed" for a few weeks rather than actually looked at, that's usually the moment it's worth booking in before finals.

Let's talk about that dull ache or pinch at the front of your hip that shows up after you've been sitting for a while.

It's one of the most common things we see at our Rouse Hill clinic, especially from desk workers and parents doing the school-run-then-laptop routine. The usual explanation people give themselves is "my hips are tight", but tightness is rarely the real story. What's actually happening is that hours of sitting shortens the hip flexors and lets the glutes go quiet, so when you finally stand up, the joint is being asked to move through a range it hasn't used properly in hours. That can feel like pinching, stiffness, or a dull ache, particularly at the front or side of the hip.

Stretching the front of the hip can take the edge off, but it's a short-term fix. The more durable approach is loading the muscles around the hip properly, things like glute bridges, split squats and step-ups, so they start sharing the work again instead of leaving the joint to do it alone.

Most people find this settles once movement habits change, but if it's been building for weeks, changed how you walk, or isn't easing with basic exercise, it's worth getting assessed properly rather than guessing. Book online or give us a call.

Rouse Hillโ€ฆ we'd love you to meet Maykala ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’š

If you've visited the clinic recently, chances are you've already been welcomed by Maykala's friendly face ๐Ÿ˜Š

She loves helping people feel their best and enjoys creating genuine connections with everyone who walks through the door. For Maykala, no two days are ever the same and being part of a positive, supportive team makes it all the more rewarding.

She also loves travelling and has been lucky enough to experience different cultures, foods and places along the way, always saying yes to new adventures ๐ŸŒโœˆ๏ธ

Outside of the clinic, you'll usually find her hunting down a new cafรฉ or restaurant, relaxing by the beach with a vanilla latte โ˜•๏ธ, or planning her next getaway ๐ŸŒŠ

Be sure to say hi to Maykala next time you're in the clinic ๐Ÿค—

Runners are some of our favourite people to work with.

The commitment, the goal-setting, the frustration when an injury interrupts a training block. We understand it because we work with runners every week at SWITCH Rouse Hill.

We support runners at every stage: building a base after time off, managing a persistent injury, or simply running stronger and with less pain.

If running matters to you, it matters to us.

Back pain and winter are not great friends. If yours has been worse this past month, there's a real reason for it. ๐Ÿฅถ

Cold temperatures cause muscles to tighten and spasm more easily. Reduced movement in winter means less circulation to your spinal muscles. And more time sitting at home or at a desk means more sustained pressure on your lumbar discs.

Three changes that help:

1. Keep warm. Layers really do make a difference for muscle tone.
2. Move more, even if it's just a 10-minute walk around the block.
3. Check your sitting posture: lower back supported, feet flat on the floor, screen at eye level.

These help prevent it from getting worse. If the pain has been around for a while, physio gets to the actual root cause rather than just managing the symptoms.
