Hapkido is more than just an effective system of self-defense, it offers solutions in difficult situations. It teachers people that there is an alternative to direct confrontation and that just because you can, doesn't mean you have to.
I retired on Friday from my position as PDHPE teacher and Director of Learning Culture at the Aurora Southern Highlands Steiner School, which in my opinion is one of the best schools in Australia. Not because of the facilities or the funding but because of the ethos of the school, the dedicated team and the students who attend. I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach Hapkido and Taekwondo as part of the curriculum and just wanted to share some of the thoughts the students shared with me as they said goodbye.
