Women's Health Week is held each year to raise awareness of the health issues affecting women across their lives and to address long-standing gaps in information, research and care. It gives women, girls and gender-diverse people the space to start important conversations and take action for their health. For many women, that might mean finally booking the appointment that's been sitting on the to-do list or simply taking a moment to ask questions about something that's been on your mind.

This year's theme, Do It Anyway, focuses on taking that first small step towards better health, whatever that looks like for you. Our hospital offers the expertise to support women at every stage of life and is committed to providing compassionate, personalised care that ensures you feel heard and supported.

Spotlight on Women in Health: Rach Muir represents Nepean Private Hospital at APAS 2026

Nepean Private Hospital is proud to recognise Rach Muir, who recently took to the international stage at APAS 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, joining the Women in Arthroplasty panel as part of the Spotlight on Women in Health industry.

The panel brought together women in Arthroplasty and from healthcare industry to share their experiences of leadership, overcoming challenges, creating opportunities and positive culture for others in advancing the role of women within the profession.

Reflecting on the experience, Rach shared:

"For me, being part of this panel wasn't just about celebrating women's achievements. It was about having the courage to talk openly about the challenges we still face and using our collective voices to create change."

Rach spoke passionately about the importance of women continuing to lead, challenge, innovate and support one another, while creating opportunities for future generations.

Congratulations to Rach on representing Nepean Private Hospital on an international stage and contributing her voice to such an important conversation. We also acknowledge and thank her team, whose expertise, collaboration and commitment to patient care support the work she represents every day.

It's inspiring to see members of our team sharing their knowledge and experience beyond our hospital and contributing to conversations that help shape the future of healthcare.

There’s something extra special about welcoming the baby of one of our own wonderful and dedicated midwives. To have someone who knows our team and the care we provide every day choose to trust us with her own growing family means so much.

“Dear my work family,

Just a message to say a big thank you for looking after our family as we welcomed our third beautiful daughter, Thea, into the world. It was perfect & I know how blessed we are to have shared it with all of you.

I know some people may say, of course my obstetrician and the staff looked after me so well being staff myself, but honestly, I know this is how you look after your women, babies & families every single day. How lucky are we.

I felt safe, far less anxious & you all made me smile a lot throughout my stay. But it’s not only how well you looked after baby Thea and I, it’s how kind and warm you were to my husband and our daughters.

Thanks again, love you all. See you after maternity leave.”

Thank you, April, for trusting us to care for you and your beautiful family during such a special time. It was an absolute privilege to welcome gorgeous Thea into the Nepean Private family.

An exciting milestone at Nepean Private Hospital as we celebrate the introduction of the new OPAL HDx™ Mapping System. The first procedure using this advanced technology was performed yesterday by Dr Ihab El-Sokkari.

Developed by Boston Scientific, the OPAL HDx Mapping System is an advanced 3D cardiac mapping and navigation technology that helps electrophysiologists diagnose and treat complex heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation.

Think of it as a GPS and 3D map for the inside of the heart.

The system creates highly detailed, real-time maps of the heart's electrical activity, allowing specialists to pinpoint abnormal electrical signals with greater precision and guide catheter ablation procedures with increased accuracy. By providing enhanced visualisation of the heart, the OPAL HDx system supports more targeted treatment, may reduce procedure times, and assists in preserving healthy heart tissue.

Today, we followed this achievement with a second successful procedure performed by Dr Juliana Kanawati, further demonstrating the value of this innovative technology in supporting exceptional patient care.

This milestone reflects not only the introduction of leading-edge technology, but also the skill, dedication and collaboration of the team behind it. Special recognition goes to our Cath Lab nurses and medical staff, Maria, Saarah, Joy, Anna and Angela, whose expertise and commitment to patient care helped make these procedures a success. Their teamwork and professionalism play an integral role in delivering exceptional outcomes for our patients every day.

We are proud to bring this innovative technology to Nepean Private Hospital and continue advancing the delivery of leading cardiac care in Western Sydney.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated globally from 1 to 7 August. In 2026, the theme is “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works” — a reminder that when communities support breastfeeding, families and future generations benefit.

Breastfeeding is a sustainable first food that supports infant nutrition, public health, family budgets, food security, emergency resilience and environmental sustainability.

This World Breastfeeding Week, we recognise the importance of strengthening what works by connecting families with trusted, practical support through the National Breastfeeding Helpline, LiveChat, local support groups and evidence-based resources. A huge thank you to one of our lovely Nepean Private breastfeeding mums, Jade, for allowing us to share this beautiful photo.

At Nepean Private Hospital, we are proud to support First Nations peoples not just during NAIDOC Week, but throughout the year.

Today, we were privileged to welcome Wiradjuri Elder Uncle Dennis Dunn, who generously shared his knowledge, wisdom, and personal lived experiences with our team. His insights provided a meaningful opportunity to deepen our understanding of the rich cultural history, resilience, and perspectives of First Nations peoples.

Engaging in conversations such as these plays a vital role in building genuine relationships with our local First Nations community. By listening, learning and creating space for shared stories, we strengthen connections founded on respect, understanding and trust.

Extending this opportunity for cultural learning, our staff also participated in a hands-on art workshop led by Jess from the Merana Aboriginal Community Association. Jess generously guided our team in creating a collaborative piece of Aboriginal-inspired artwork, providing a wonderful opportunity to connect through creativity while gaining a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal culture, traditions and storytelling through art.

We are grateful to Uncle Dennis and Jess for sharing their time, knowledge and experiences with us. Their contributions helped create a meaningful day of learning, reflection and connection, and we look forward to continuing to learn from and work alongside our local First Nations communities.
