This little sand city came out of Friday’s Stay & Play. 🤍

Sand, bare feet, and a row of castles that didn’t exist an hour earlier. It looks like simple play, but there’s plenty happening underneath it - grip and hand strength, planning, sequencing, problem-solving, sensory exploration, and the patience to start again when something falls over.

And that’s really what Stay & Play is about.

Each Friday, we open the Therapy Garden and Playground for children to explore and play in a relaxed environment, while parents and carers can connect with our team, ask questions about their child’s development and pick up practical ideas they can use at home.

It can be particularly helpful for families on waitlists who want some support, information or simply a chance to ask, “Is this something I should be thinking about?”

You don’t need to have all the answers before you come. Sometimes a conversation while the kids are happily playing is a very good place to start.

Stay & Play
Fridays | 3:30–4:30pm
Open to the whole community, but all children are to be accompanied by an adult.

If your family is on our waitlist - this one's for you. 💛

Every Friday afternoon we open our doors for Stay & Play - a free, relaxed drop-in where you don't need an appointment, a referral, or any paperwork. Just turn up.

While your children explore our therapy garden and playground, you get the chance to:
💬 Ask the questions that have been keeping you up at night
🌿 Get real advice from our clinicians
🤝 Connect with other Goldfields parents on the same journey
💛 Meet the team before your first appointment, so it feels familiar when the time comes

Waiting is hard. We know that. Stay & Play doesn't replace your appointment - but it means you're not doing nothing in the meantime.

Every Friday, 3:30–4:30pm
21B Ward St, Kalgoorlie
Free · No appointment needed · No referral required

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
See you Friday. 🌿

Sunday night reminded us why we love this community so much. 💛

The 2026 Resources Industry Charity Sundowner, organised by the incredible team at Topdrill, raised $521,473.46 in a single evening. In seven years, this event has now raised over $2 million for Goldfields charities - and Full Circle Therapies was deeply honoured to be one of this year's beneficiaries alongside the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations.

To every person who attended, bid, donated or cheered from the sidelines - thank you. What happened in that room last night translates directly into therapy sessions for Goldfields children who need them. Into families who don't have to travel. Into kids who get the support they deserve, right here in their own community.

The Goldfields resources industry has shown, year after year, that profit and purpose can sit in the same room. Sunday night proved it again - in the most generous way possible.

To Topdrill and every sponsor, supporter and guest: from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. 💛

There’s something really special about walking into a place where someone already knows your child.

Where they remember their name.
Where they notice the little wins.
Where conversations pick up where they left off.

Therapy is only one part of what we do.

The relationships built in the hallways, the smiles at reception, the familiar faces that greet your family each week… those moments matter too. They help children feel safe, parents feel supported, and trust grow over time.

It’s easy to think therapy is all about what happens in the session.

Often, it’s everything around it that helps make the session possible. 💛

Sound familiar? 😅
Here's the thing - they're not holding out on you. Their body genuinely wasn't telling them.

There's actually a name for the skill behind this: interoception. It's the ability to notice what's happening inside your body - hunger, thirst, tiredness, needing the toilet. The signals that tell you what you need before you hit the wall.

For a lot of children, that signal is still developing. The message is there, but the volume is turned down too low to act on. So they keep playing, keep going, keep pushing through. Until suddenly they can't.

That's not a child being difficult. That's a nervous system still learning to hear itself.

The good news? Interoception is a skill - which means it can be built. Small, simple things at home make a real difference over time.

"It's just a tag."
If you've ever spent twenty minutes before school trying to negotiate a clothing tag - or a food texture, or a sock seam, or the sound of the hand dryer in a public bathroom - you already know that "just" isn't the right word.

For children with sensory processing differences, what feels minor to everyone else can feel genuinely overwhelming. Not because they're being difficult. Not because of how they've been raised. Because their nervous system is working differently - taking in more, processing it more intensely, and struggling to filter out what doesn't matter.

It's one of the most common things we see at Full Circle Therapies. And one of the things parents most often tell us they wished they'd understood sooner.

An Occupational Therapist can:
🧩 Help you understand what your child is actually experiencing🧩 Work with your child on strategies that genuinely help🧩 Make the everyday stuff - getting dressed, eating, going to school - feel less like a war🧩 Help teachers understand what's happening too, so your child gets the right support in the classroom
You don't need a diagnosis. You don't need a referral. If any of this sounds familiar, that's enough reason to reach out.

Not sure if this sounds like your child? Come and have an informal chat at Stay & Play - every Friday 3.30-4.30pm during the school term at 21B Ward St. No appointment, no referral, no pressure. Just a conversation. 💛

While your family is waiting, we're not going to leave you with nothing. 💛

We're starting a simple series - things that genuinely help at home while you wait, or alongside therapy when you get there. No jargon, no special equipment, nothing that costs money. Just real, everyday things that make a real difference.

First up, and possibly the most powerful one we'll share: read aloud together, every single day.

Even ten minutes counts. Even the same book on repeat - repetition is actually how language sticks. Even if your child is older than you'd think "reading time" is for (it works right through primary school). And especially in your home language - reading in any language builds exactly the same foundational literacy skills. There is no wrong language for this.

You don't need a special routine. You don't need the right books. You just need tonight.

We'll share one simple idea like this every so often. Save this post and look out for the next one.

We want to be straight with you about the wait.

Demand for paediatric therapy across the Goldfields has grown a lot, and we know that when your family is on a list, every week feels long. The wait isn't because we don't care - it's a national shortage of allied health professionals that hits regional towns hardest. But that's ours to solve, not yours to carry.

Here's what we're actively doing right now (swipe through): telehealth is now an option, we're getting to know each child's needs better so we can match support faster, we're opening up short-term and group programs to reach more kids sooner, and we're recruiting from across Australia and overseas.

And while you wait - you are not on your own.
Join Stay & Play at our playground at Mason's House, every Friday from 3.30pm - 4.30pm - it's free, no appointment needed. Come for real advice from our clinicians, answers to the questions on your mind, practical things you can do at home right now, and a community of parents who get it.

Full details on telehealth and group programs coming very soon - we'll let you know the moment they're ready. 💛

At Stay & Play, the activities are only part of the experience.

While the children play, parents have the opportunity to connect with our team, ask questions, share concerns and learn more about their child’s development in a relaxed and informal setting.

Take this chalk activity, for example.

To a child, it’s simply drawing on the ground.

To us, it’s also an opportunity to observe and support:
• Fine motor skills and hand strength
• Creativity and imagination
• Turn-taking and social interaction
• Communication and language development
• Confidence and independence
• Problem-solving and early learning concepts

Sometimes the most valuable conversations happen while children are busy playing.

Whether you’re waiting for services, looking for ideas to try at home, or simply wanting to learn more about your child’s development, Stay & Play is a welcoming space to connect, ask questions and gather practical information from our team.

Because play isn’t just fun - it’s how children learn, grow and develop.

Looking forward to seeing you at 3.30 tomorrow for Stay & Play!
