Your to-do list is looking a little empty…

☐ Book a massage
☐ Get a massage
☐ Book the next one

Simple.

If your body’s been reminding you it’s been a while, maybe this is your sign.

I've been seeing a lot of videos lately claiming that fascia is the answer to almost every ache and pain.

It reminds me of when I first became a personal trainer in the early 2000s. Back then, everything seemed to come back to one thing: core stability.

The fitness and health industries often go through phases where one idea becomes the answer to everything.

Don't get me wrong, fascia is real and it's an important part of the body. But modern pain science tells us that pain is far more complex than simply blaming one structure.

Stress, sleep, emotions, previous experiences, movement, beliefs and the nervous system can all influence how much pain we experience.

That's also why I think massage is so valuable. It's not just about muscles or fascia. One of its biggest benefits may be helping calm an overprotective nervous system, reducing pain and making movement feel easier.

The body is incredibly complex, and that's one of the reasons I love continuing to learn.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you noticed the recent explosion of videos about fascia?

Massage is just one part of the recovery process.

What you do between treatments often has the biggest influence on how you feel.

Gentle movement, walking, mobility work, strength training, good sleep, and managing stress all help your body adapt and recover.

My goal isn't for you to need a massage forever. It's to help you move better, feel better, and become more confident in your own body.

Massage can help create change... but movement helps maintain it.

What do you do between treatments that helps you feel your best?

A little life update...

After having my shoulder surgery cancelled twice, I've decided to postpone it until next year.

To be honest, constantly opening and closing the clinic, changing appointments, and waiting for another surgery date became a bit too much. I realised it was better to make a decision than keep everyone, including myself, in limbo.

The good news is my shoulder is actually feeling really good, so for now I'll keep doing what I love—helping people feel and move better.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been so understanding and supportive throughout all of this. Your patience while appointments were moved around really meant a lot.

Sometimes life doesn't go to plan, but that's OK. We adjust, keep moving forward, and make the best decision with the information we have.

So... it's business as usual, and I look forward to seeing you in the clinic.

Life doesn't always go to plan.

Sometimes unexpected events leave us feeling frustrated, disappointed or stressed.

What's interesting is that our bodies often respond as well.

You might notice your shoulders tighten, your jaw clench, your breathing become shallow, or muscles that weren't bothering you suddenly feel tense.

That doesn't necessarily mean something has been damaged. Often, it's your nervous system responding to what you're going through.

One of the most helpful things we can do is simply pause, take a slow breath, notice what we're feeling and give your body permission to chillout!

We can't always control what happens in life, but we can learn to respond

Have you ever noticed your body becoming tighter during stressful times?

Many of us have been told that massage works by "breaking up knots" or physically loosening tight muscles.

But research is making us rethink that explanation.

You can absolutely feel looser after a massage, but that doesn't necessarily mean the muscle itself has changed. One explanation is that massage helps calm the nervous system, reducing the protective muscle guarding that often makes us feel tight in the first place.

For me, that's exciting.

It reminds us that the body is more than muscles and joints. How we feel, how we move, and even how we experience pain are influenced by our nervous system too.

The more we learn, the better we can help people.

Have you ever walked out of a massage feeling lighter or freer, even though nothing felt "fixed"?

Most people only see the hour they're on the massage table.

What they don't see are all the little jobs behind the scenes that help create a great experience. Washing towels, folding laundry, cleaning the treatment room, restocking supplies, and getting everything ready for the next client.

These jobs might not be glamorous, but they're all part of providing a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

It's a reminder that the little things matter. They often make the biggest difference.

What are some of the behind-the-scenes jobs in your work that most people never see?

At the end of the day, I sometimes stop and reflect on how grateful I am to genuinely love what I do.

Helping people move better, feel calmer, recover from injuries, and understand their bodies gives me a real sense of purpose. Every client has a different story, and it's a privilege to be part of that journey.

Some days are challenging, but when you love what you do, it never really feels like "just a job."

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

Pain is like an unwanted visitor.

You didn't invite it, it turns up when you least expect it, and suddenly it starts disrupting your life.

The first thing we want is for it to leave.

Sometimes it does. Sometimes it stays a little longer than we'd like.

While we can't always make pain disappear overnight, we can often help create the right environment for it to settle. Gentle movement, quality sleep, breathing exercises, relaxation, and hands-on therapy can all help calm the nervous system and support the body's natural recovery.

One thing I keep reminding myself, especially with my own recent back pain, is this...

Pain doesn't last forever.

Be patient with yourself. Keep doing the little things that help. Recovery isn't always linear, but your body has an incredible ability to adapt and recover.

Have you ever had pain that felt like it would never go away, but eventually did?
