🦋 PART 3: Why thyroid symptoms aren’t always straightforward
One of the biggest misconceptions I see is this:
“I have all the symptoms of a thyroid problem, so it must be my thyroid.”
Or the opposite:
“My thyroid tests were normal, so nothing can be wrong.”
The truth is, symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, hair loss, constipation, weight changes and feeling cold are real, but they’re also non-specific. They can occur with thyroid disorders and many other health conditions.
That’s why good healthcare doesn’t stop at one blood test.
It combines your symptoms, medical history, physical examination and, when appropriate, further investigations to understand why you’re feeling the way you are.
Your thyroid is an incredibly important gland, but it’s only one part of a much bigger picture.
🤍 Thank you for following along with this thyroid series! I hope it’s helped make a complex topic a little easier to understand.
👇 I’d love to know: what health topic would you like me to cover next?
