What does the 50% reduction in support work actually mean?
Support workers can provide different types of assistance. The impact depends on the support being funded, not simply whether you employ a support worker.
Assistance with Daily Life - Not impacted by reduction
Help with showering, dressing, toileting, eating, preparing meals, cleaning and laundry.
Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation - Subject to 50% reduction
Support to attend community activities, visit friends, participate in recreation and access supported group activities.
High intensity supports - Not impacted by reduction
Eligible high intensity supports are excluded, including when delivered in the community. Having complex needs does not automatically make every support a high intensity support.
Supports in employment - Not impacted by reduction
Assistance provided at work.
Ask your LAC, Support coordinator or advocate what type of supports are in your plan and how you could be impacted.
